I didn't watch the whole video last time, and I was surprised by the honesty of her answer. Go Charisma. I hope she and Joss work together again. I'm sure the fans would love to see her in another Joss production.

It was crappy how they ended Cordelia's character, but I'm just glad we got something, I mean the 100th episode was originally supposed to be with Buffy, so it definitely sounds like Cordelia wasn't even going to return in the season if SMG hadn't backed out. =/ Pretty sure "You're Welcome" still would have happened, just at a later point in the season. I just figure the "Girl In Question"-Angel-Or-Spike? episode would have been moved into the 100th episode slot and "You're Welcome" would have been moved towards the end. I figure this, because Buffy helping Angel defeat Lindsey (a character shes never even met), who is claiming to be the vision bearer (a job Buffy knows squat about) and referring to himself as "Doyle" (another character Buffy has zero history with), just doesnt make ANY kind of dramatic sense. And when you think about it, the Lindsey storyline comes across as awfully rushed, like they had to wrap it up fast due to having to move the Cordy episode forward when SMG refused to make an appearance...

From what I heard, she didn't outright refuse, she couldn't make it cuz of family stuff. She offered to appear for the finale, but Joss didn't want Buffy to distract from Angel.

They didn't write You're Welcome with the same storyline and then think "Oh Sarah Michelle Gellar will be awesome in this episode!" it was "hey it's the 100th episode of Angel, let's see if we can get Sarah Michelle Gellar." If she was available they definitely would have had a different storyline.
I was saying that I only knew that they had planned Sarah Michelle Gellar to be in the fifth season but then someone pointed out that they planned on bringing Charisma back at some point in the season, just not necessarily that episode. Not that they planned the storyline asked for SMG and then picked Charisma when SMG couldn't do it.

From what I've heard, the basic concept for the 100th episode was the same if SMG had done the episode.Buffy was going to be the one who got Angel to believe in himself again. The details would of been different and the episode wasn't written until they knew SMG was out and were going to go for CC then. But the core concept was going to be about getting Angel to have faith in himself as a champion again.

This was years ago back shortly after the episode aired.I can't even remember where I read it.It was one of the show writers who mentioned it but I can't even remember which one.I'm going strictly by memory here.It might not of even been online but from a magazine article. Wish I had it or could remember where I saw it.

Hmm, I read that somewhere online. Think it might have been Wikipedia, before it got edited. But the writers were gonna have Buffy help Angel believe in himself again. Thank God they didn't go with that one. Simply because A) Spike is around and B) I prefer Cordy over Buffy

Well for Joss' sake i'll choose not to believe this. Mainly because Cordy's belief in Angel was what drove him for 3 seasons and his life didnt begin to go to hell until she came back possessed and started intentionally steering him off the path. Buffy had next to nothing to do with his life for almost the entire duration of the show, so having her get him back on the path would frankly come across as shipper pandering. No ring of truth to it. Anyway, I dont like thinking one of the few moments of genius Joss showed in the later years happened by accident due to an unavailable actress.

Absolutely - just like the Buffy/Angel scenes at the end of BtVS S7 seem so out of place and there to pander to Buffy/Angel fans.
