The reason for this poll was simply because I've started thinking about Riley again, and (on the assumption he is a double agent) do you think Buffy KNOWS what he is doing? Because if so, that means Buffy has a plan, she's known for a while what Riley is doing and she knows where she is going. Or do you think he is doing it without Buffy's knowledge.
Triple agent? Telling Twilight he is working as a double Agent against Buffy, but ultimately batting for Buffy's side.

I think he's a double agent, ultimately loyal to Buffy, and she knows about it. He was the person Buffy got dressed up for in ToYL and was late to the meeting at the rooftop because of. Riley then told Twilight that he was supposed to be spying for her. He's lying to one of them. The fact that he was trying to direct Twilight away from Tibet in #27 is evidence that he's on her side.

I myself believe that he is indeed working in Buffy's favour. But I'm not sure if Buffy knows yet, meeting up with him in New York doesn't necessarily mean that she knows he is working with Twilight.

Riley working with Buffy could explain her massive supply of weapons, ammo, jets, etc...

Yeh, but does she know he is working with Twilight? Riley to Twilight: "I tell her I'm her inside man. Her ever faithful." So yes, Buffy knows he's working with Twilight. And Twilight knows he's working with Buffy.

Ah! I forgot about that line, I guess i was so shocked at Riley, I just kind of read the line as "She trusts me, mwahahahah" not "She thinks im working with you to help her"
Has Buffy and co ever mentioned an inside man?

Riley's ultimate loyalty is to Buffy (imo), so Triple Agent.

Has Buffy and co ever mentioned an inside man? Nope. She wouldn't tell Willow why when she asked why Buffy had to disappear for a few hours before the rooftop meeting. She's apparently not communicating with Riley, though, since she doesn't seem to know what Twilight is up to. Or does she?

Well thats the thing, if she has been in constant contact with Riley, Joss and co wont have shown it as it will play a part in a big reveal. But as Riley has implied that Buffy knows he is working with Twilight, why have they not shown Buffy having some sort of acknowledgement of it?

I think Riley is a triple agent, but I wonder what/how much anyone else knows, i.e. the scoobies. Would they trust Riley if he showed up genuinely wanting to help them? I know why she has to keep it a secret, but her secrets usually come out in a very painful, public way. I don't see why Riley's relationship with Buffy/Twilight would be any different.

I'd like him to be a Triple Agent (ultimately loyal to Buffy). It seems that the story is hinting that Riley is at least somewhat sympathetic to Buffy's cause
"He is a villain indefinitely" has zero votes in our poll - no one would see that coming; wouldn't it be a kicker if its what we get?

I say he's a double agent...Buffy doesn't know. I just have a hard time seeing Riley as the villain. I can't believe that he would ever want to hurt Buffy that way, especially when you consider the last time they were together in S6.

I'm not sure how the triple agent works. Perhaps someone could explain. All in all, I think Riley is true to Buffy. He cares / cared too much for Buffy, Dawn, Willow and Xander. Sam had great respect for The Slayer and I can't see her supporting his turning on Buffy.
And, by the way, where is Sam?
Would a triple be Riley loyal to Buffy, undercover with Twilight, but working with and for the part of the military that is not the crazy general and his soldiers? Riley may be part of a clandestine, undercover operation for the demon-hunting group he is part of as they are trying to figure out what the Twilight-positive arm of the military is doing and has secretly maintained his loyalty to Buffy feeding her information that won't compromise his initial mission.

And, by the way, where is Sam? I think if we knew the answer to this question, we'd know who's side Riley is on.
