I'd like to see soem interweaving stories. It's clear Angel in buffy and buffy in Angel is at best reserved fro dream sequences but i dont see why Spike and angels respective titles ccouldnt mesh and make the meshing canon as far as continutiy goes. We all Know Brian Lynch won't disregard ATF for the obvious reason that its his thereby ensuring some level if backward referencing but as far as the future its all about whether Willingham and Lynch will actually coordinate and work together or just look over each others shoulders to see what the other is doing.

My biggest hope for the Angel books is that we get a long, consistant run from Willingham. What annoys me in comic books, and Angel has been guilty of it, is how they jump from creator to creator, often with huge changes in quality. The main Angel title has been pretty fractured and directionless for a while, so I'm hoping Willingham brings it some long-term vision. Same with Spike; I hope Brian Lynch stays with that for a good while, since he's indicated that this is his last Buffyverse project. I'd hate for him to only do 10 or so issues and then hand it to someone else. I think there's a happy medium when it comes to spin-offs. IDW are kind of whores, publishing every idea that comes into their head, whether it's necessary or not. Spike is justified, and you can't really fault the Byrne stuff, but the episode adaptations are creatively pointless cash-ins. If people like them, fine, but they do oversaturate the franchise. On the other hand, Season Eight could do with a lot more spin-offs. Dark Horse missed a great opportunity not doing Faith, especially since the character is being totally wasted in Buffy right now. Also, given the global scale of the series, some kind of anthology mini-series focusing on other Slayers and supporting characters would have been great. It might have kept the main book more streamlined to, as we wouldn't have had "P&P"-style one-shots dragging down the pace. Imagine Buffy focusing only on the Scoobies, with spin-offs exploring the peripheral characters, and you have a well-organised franchise. And where's the Fray ongoing? If we wait for Joss to write it, we'll all be in our 80s... It seems like both Dark Hose and IDW should take lessons from each other. Buffy has the long-term vision, but is slow-paced and flabby in the meantime, while Angel has the instant-gratification, but is scattered all over the place. A couple of points: "IDW are whores". Come on now. I appreciate that you want me to stay on SPIKE, but 10 issues is a lot. It's a lot of SPIKE issues. I will probably stay longer, but jeepers. And finally, I would hardly call ANGEL jumping from creator to creator. I was on for 17 issues, which is a good run, took a break, came back for five (six or seven if you count the annual).

A couple of points: "IDW are whores". Come on now. Okay, sorry if my language caused offence, but I stand by the point I was trying to make. Look at how many variant covers they release for example... we've got alternate covers, B&W covers, virgin covers, special order covers. I know it's harmless because you don't have to buy them if you don't want to, but it feels like IDW are putting as much stuff out as possible just for the sake of it. I prefer Dark Horse's tidier Jeanty/Chen cover format. I like long runs on comic books. Ultimate Spider-Man-length runs. Failing that, at least four or five TPBs worth of issues. Angel wasn't guilty so much of jumping from creator to creator, I take that back. But it did feel disorganized, jumping from Aftermath back in time to Epilogue, then further back to the self-contained Drusilla, then back to the present for Boys, with no overall theme/arc keeping everything together. Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed all the stories (even Aftermath to an extent) but it all felt a bit loose. At least during Buffy's "Predators and Prey", we had the knowledge that it was all leading somewhere.

I hear you. I think it took a moment to find our post-ATF footing. That said, I think the Epilogue is my favorite ANGEL issue that I've had a hand in, and that BOYS AND THEIR TOYS plays like a single episode. At least I hope so.
As for multiple covers, I'm definitely the kind of comic buyer that buys one copy of each issue of ANY comic, so there are some covers of my own books that I don't own. Everyone has the choice to do that, and the people that don't are enjoying the multiple covers, as they are literally the only reason to buy two copies, so more power to them.

I buy the alternate cover versions. I think they are wonderful examples of art - and pretty cheap when you think of the cost of a comic. I had not appreciated the creativity that went into a comic until introduced to Angel and Buffy. As I have said in earlier posts, before the new (comic) seasons of Buffy and Angel, I had not read a comic in more than 40 years (archies, and Classics illustrated). I am also storing my comics for my grandchildren as I think the quality of the comics (story and art) are worth passing onto their generation. They are too young for Buffy and Angel right now - but they know who they are and that Grandma is a Buffy fanatic. Maybe, I will never frame the art - well except for my Wesley sketch by Mooney, which is already framed - but I still like to look at the pictures.
Thank you Brian for providing us with the quality writing you have given us and will continue to give us.

Okay then this’ my first post here - even so I've been reading here for a good while now. (And don't throw heavy things at me for making mistakes or torturing your language; English's not my mother tongue ) My thoughts: Well, the comics 2009 were great!! Haven't read all of ‘em yet and have to catch up a bit but so far really love it. Think it was a good mixture of writers and artists; although Brian's still my favorite. As for the alternate issues: I didn't (and will not) buy the multiple covers/issues of the same comics. Maybe it’s because I'm not a typical comic freak (in fact, these are the only comics I EVER read or bought) , but I don’t think that’s necessary, but okay. The adaptations: never bought one. Sure, maybe it’s interesting to have the stories as comic, but really? No, I wouldn’t spent money on that. The mini series: really liked the Spike comics. Just wished, there’d been more about the charas we ‘meet’ there later. Hopes and Wishes: More Wolfram&Hart!! There still my favorite BadBoys (and -Girls… and -Demons… and not-sure-what-the-hell-eva) and so much more to tell! And linked to that: I know there‘re maybe not that much fans here - even so I could name at least two or three dozen who would be delighted and start reading and buying the comics immediately *LOL* - but I’d really like to see a (little, totally unexpected, maybe mystical maybe not, good or bad or everything in between) return of Lindsey. Really liked the guy, because you never knew what to expect next and if someone should make a visit from the maybe-not-so dead, than it’s him – oh, and maybe Lilah. Yeah, sue my for being a fan of the bad boys *sighs* Same as Paul I’d like to see a Fray ongoing. And there should definitely be more Faith stories in the Buffy comics. ’m always been a big fan of crossovers, so that would be very interesting to see one day (and no! I don’t speak about some of the ‘oh-this-THE-love-and-there-has-to-be-a-reunion-and-picked-fence-happily-ever-after-spuffy/bangel/whatever cr… uhm stuff. Just a crossover as in having to fight against some new BigBad, lots of heartache and everything *I know I’m evil and should feel ashamed … LOL*) Anyway. Want to say thank you for a great year of BtVS and AtS entertainment too. Hope there’ll be a lot more years of comics ahead.

He's from a race of creatures that look like that. Not from this dimension. It's talked about in SPIKE:ASYLUM. I would love to show other creatures from George's world.

All I want for Angel in 2010 is good stories. 2009 was a very unbalanced year for the comic. We got some great stuff(After the Fall, Gunn's story in issue#23), some bad stuff(Aftermath), and filler(Drusilla issues 24-25, Boys and there Toys issues 26-27).

What I hope to come?: - Less Spin-Offs and more stories about the whole Gang together - At least some input by Joss Whedon - Brian Lynch coming back

I'd almost want him to stay out of it unless he was going to write or at least plot an extended story. Then again, all the mess and confusion it would create would probably be worth it just to have a Joss written Angel story. Regardless, I don't think Joss is going to get involved with Angel again.

I have no interest in TV episode adaptations- I want original material
I want to see more stories involving Spike, because it's the Spike/Angel dynamic that made season 5 so excellent, and funny characters such as Groo and Betta George bcos the really awesome thing about Angel was always that it treaded the fine lione between horror and humour. I'd like to see more of a focus on Angel's fame and particularly Spike's reaction to fame, bcos I'm sure he's the kind of guy to milk it for all it's worth
My favourite issues so far were definitely Boys and their Toys, so more along thsoe lines would be good
In summary: . Spike . Groo . Betta George . more humour . more exposure to fame

Hmm well,
For Spike
Want: Spike carving out his own piece in the world. Make bonds, friends with people(or demons) that truelly see how special and unique he is(i guess like Tok and Beck). Having to overcome bigger challenges, worthy adveseries New settings. After Spike guest stars on Buffy, the scoobies could star in his series, an apocalypse and Spike needing help, first Giles then Xander,Willow ending with the return of Buffy. All there to help him in his time of need. Having many different sorts of arc's. One could be character driven, another action packed, mystery,comedy,epic,sci-fi,ect. Sky's the limit really. Some Spike stories set in the past and future. I hope that in say 3 years time i will have a neatly orderd rack filled with numbered Spike volumes Tpb's(although hardcover is cooler).
Do not want: Exactly how he's now been used in Angel. If you can't use him well then don't use him at all. Regressing the character. Spike being second fiddle to Angel except ofcourse when Spike is in Angel's book but so do i expect the reverse, if Angel is in Spike's book Angel should be second fiddle.
Ps: Like Paul said, a Fray on-going series please.
