I don't know how many people have read the book "Seven Seasons of Buffy: Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Discuss Their Favorite Television Show", but one of the essays mentions "Beer Bad", and it's actually a pretty interesting tidbit about the origin of the episode. Back in the late-'90s, the government offered the TV networks a deal: if they'd work anti-drug and anti-alcohol messages into their programs (especially the ones with largely teen and twenty-something audiences), they'd allow them to not have to show those federally-mandated anti-drug commercials during primetime... which was a good deal from a business standpoint, because then the networks could sell that extra little bit of commercial time, and make more money. So the WB was one of the networks that took them up on the offer, and told the producers of their shows like "Buffy" and "Dawson's Creek" that they had to do at least one episode with an anti-drug/alcohol theme in it. The "Buffy" writers weren't happy about it, and their answer was, basically, "Okay, we have to do an episode about how beer is bad? Then we'll do the dumbest, most low-brow story possible, and call it 'Beer Bad'". I think the episode was funny enough already, but when you realize that it was done pretty much as a raised middle finger at the network that forced the mandate on them, it's even funnier... ;D Wow. The government really does get into everything in one way or another. I never knew that. Thanks.

I think it would be a nice idea to have a single topic where feedback about the forum can be communicated to me, and the other mods. So if you have suggestions, or even changes you would love to see, let us know about them! Here is an example of things we are currently working on adding to the forum: 1) Finishing the emoticons, they are done for the most part but I am holding them until I complete them ALL. 2) New Feature! Personal member pages! Neat huh?! They will be basic HTML, or Text areas that you can edit yourself. When someone clicks on your profile, there will be a link saying "View Personal Page". You can add your own text, pictures, etc! 3) Personal Mood Icons! Another new feature, you can have your mood displayed in your mini-profile (the section to the right of all posts with name, location, karma, etc). A selection of about 20 moods are being worked on. EDIT: Personal Mood is now available, in the Edit My Profile section! 16 moods to choose from! That is freaking amazing!!!!!!! Are you also working on the SlayAlive Awards graphics?

Wish granted. Near the end of 2008, Joss Whedon announces he will be writing a crossover between Spike: After the Fall and Buffy Season Eight. He also mentions that by the end of said crossover, all characters established on the television shows will be killed off.
I wish I had no reason to be afraid.

Angel was called Cinnamon buns by Lorne in Waiting in the Wings, which was incidentally written by Joss himself. That would be a great left fielder, although I'm willing to bet my "Shells" Illyria action figure it's not Lorne. God speed to the green man, wherever he has traveled. It's amazing how off all of our guesses were. LOL

Buffy and her blah was just amazing! It was more of a "bleh" than a "blah". LOL.
It's funny I'm reading this now. I just rewatched Beer Bad earlier this week. It's one of my faves.
But I agree with your opinion on "The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco".

Well, congratulations on being in honors/advance placement classes. Could you explain your situation to your teacher? Describe your teacher to me... Sex, Age (Estimate), and Personality. I'm going to do my best to help you through this! Sorry for the late reply (I don't have internet at home and won't for probably over one more week) and thanks for helping. I ended up writing her an apologetic letter and... I don't know how but I'm still in AP Euro. I was given my acceptance letter yesterday.

Ben, I ride a bike a lot too, but I would get so messed up trying not to die on the roads. LOL Okay, a small problem. James is having a concert&Q&A the 30th in London, then another concert the 2 may, and photosshoot with me(and other fans of course) the 3 and then on the 4th there's a party for fans where he is suppose to sing. But he's sick and yesterday he cancelled a concert. Considering that i have to fly in from Sweden, I'm pissed/worried/sad. I mean, I'll still have fun in London, but since i don't have a job and am shy, I'd be a bit disapointed if he couldn't sing or attend the photoshoot and signing. *sob* just wanted to let it out. thank you for reading. That SUCKS! sorry New thing for me to vent about: So, I had a 10-page Elvis essay due 10 minutes ago on turnitin.com and I didn't get it in because the computer froze. and I didn't save the essay. So now I'll probably fail World History Honors and have to take it again, and if not I still won't be in AP Euro which means I'll have even less classes with the people I've been in the same advanced classes with since elementary.

Well it could be worse, you could have moved out of state. Um... I don't mean to sound like a creeper but... how old are you? Because I was thinking... you look like your in high school and could soon get your permit/driver's license. I'm 15. Not creepy, trust me, I'm asked all the time. I'll be starting Driver's Ed in a few weeks. But with these darn gas prices, I'd rather keep walking... not to mention all the walking lately (I've walked back and forth to school a number of times in the past month) is adding to my weight loss.

errmm... excuse me, if I may butt in... although repeat threads are a "waste of space" it would be ridiculous for people to sort through pages of threads to see if something was posted before. if it will be an issue, and thread posters derogated for posting repeat themes, may I suggest a forum search function. No thread poster has been "derogated". The thread is still here, isn't it? And we have a forum search function. Always have. www.slayalive.com/index.cgi?action=search

Not too far. Same district, but what would take a 5 minute walk from my house now to a friends would take possibly 2-3 hours walking. Maybe a 15 minute drive or more.

In all of these the teen was hit by a drunk driver. They weren't the actual drunk driver. But I see your point. It's not like there were a bunch of OLDER people there listening.
And I think I forgot to mention this was for Prom weekend.

Okay, so I'll get this thread rolling, but not with my original issue I was going to create another account for.
I'm moving on Wednesday. I have lived in the same neighborhood for 9 years, been through a whole lot of unpleasant things in the neighborhood too. But now we're moving, and I am the happiest I have ever been WITH THE NEIGHBORHOOD I'M STILL IN. I've found six friends who live outside my neighborhood but in walking distance from it. There's a kid named Caleb who lives across the street from me. We've hated eachother off and on, but right now we're better than ever and plan on staying that way. I go over to his house everyday now... And I'M MOVING! It has taken me 9 years to be happy with where I'm living, and now I'm moving. I can't do this.
There's more. My aunt is always telling me she'll do anything for me. I tried to get her to buy the house I live in at the moment so I wouldn't have to move but she had just renewed her rent or something in her apartment. So there was nothing she could do to help me... Well, two weeks ago, my mom found out that her and her boyfriend's credit wasn't good enough to buyt he house, and she asked my aunt to put her name and info into the house so we could still move... And she did it. She finally has the chance to do the "anything" and she doesn't even think about it. And, to make it worse, she's moving to Florida most likely before the year is out. So I will no longer have the one person I can talk to about ALMOST anything, and I won't be near anyone outside of school that I care to do anything outside of school with, so I'll be the same lonely, depressed Timothy I came to know myself as and who I finally got over. In fact, I just went over an entire month without a sign of depression, and now it's all coming right back at me in full force. There is another element to this story, but I'll keep it to myself for now.
So...?

If people didn't talk about bullsh!t then 90% of the posts here would disappear lol. SlayAlive needs the B.S. to stay alive. Watch it. I never said any of it was "bullsh!t". But for someone who is incapable of being online 5 out of 7 days of the week, its hard enough to seed through threads they've already read to get to ones they haven't, and having repeat threads doesn't help.
