Werewolf OZ So as we found out in season 2 Oz was a werewolf after being bit by his cousin. The look of the Werewolf in season 2 looked brilliant i thought grey dog like big and scary But then in season 3 he just looks like a brown hairy mop thats been smacked in the face with a frying pan :S

He looked like a crappy monkey later on. No idea why they changed.

^^ I think I remember them saying something in the commentaries about how they wanted the face and body to be able to have more expressiveness and movement.

Does anyone know if any of the scenes actually had Seth Green in the werewolf costume?

The first wolf incarnation was AWFUL! I'm really glad that they changed it to the more human dog thing. I thought it was kinda cool actually.

Buffyfan is right, they changed it because the original wolf was a robot and it barely moved and had no range of emotions, so they changed it to a person in a costume. I'm pretty certain that they used a different actor to be in the suit.

In a way, I think I would have been happy if we had never seen Oz as a werewolf and they only alluded to it. The scenes when Oz was a werewolf didn't really add anything to the character in my opinion.

Phases ,werewolf does look like an werewolf ,not a ape. But for me the phases werewolf, was way to stiff around the face. But the werewolf in beauty and the beast and so on, the face is more realistic and it has movement so it makes it more realistic to the audience,

The crew disparagingly referred to the later wolf makeup as 'The Gay possum'. Note when we met Nina in Angel season 5 they go back to the Phases style makeup

I really liked Oz's "halfway wolf" make up that he had. Like in "New Moon Rising" where he tells Tara to run? His teeth are all screwed up and his eyes are so creepy. It was awesomely scary.

My biggest problem with the change was that the it messed up the continuity a bit. :/
Things like that bug me a lot.

they changed it because the first one was full of animatronics and all it could do was snarl, but couldn't actually express much emotion.
I don't like either of them, but i LOVE the half-wolf Oz, like in New Moon Rising when he looks up at Tara and goes "Run." before he's a full wolf. i think it look so cool.

I have to agree. I prefer mid change Oz. IE: Fear Itself & New Moon Rising. I think it looked really cool, and Oz actually looked creepy in mid form. When Oz becomes full wolfy it's not nearly as scary. However, I do give them props for making Oz look more like an actual wolf than in alot of other Werewolf moves etc.

The weird thing for me is that even though the Buffyverse vampire is better than Twilight in my opinion it's actually vice versa for me with werewolves. I think the only idea I like as far as werewolves go on Buffy is if you get bit by one you may become one. I like the idea from twilight that they only fight vampires which is what I would kind of like if it applied to the Buffyverse. Plus the whole being warm thing it would put Oz at a whole different level. Although I think I love Oz transformation is the best When he look like this. It is so cool.

I like Underworlds werewolves better, they are awesome werewolves without the twilight association actually the idea of wolves vs. vamps has been around for centuries "Some northern Albanian tribes believe that the vampire can only be destroyed by a wolf. The wolf bites the vampire's legs off. The vampire then retreats to his grave and never leaves it again."

I have shamefully never seen Underworld although I do plan to. Just cause I heard Kate Beckinsale is kick-ass in it.
