I'm excited about this. I of course, have so many questions. And seriously, if this is Angel, I wonder if IDW will be able to address what happens to his crew. If Angel is Twilight (and he's in total control of his actions), I fear that they are all either dead or evil.

Why is everyone freaking? Is it not possible that we are dealing with Angelus, and not Angel?

If it's a foiler, I'll be even angier than I am now.
Bad storytelling is one thing. It's not a moral failing. But looking us in the eyes and lying would be quite something else.
The only possible satisfying thing I can see coming from this is if Xander gets to be the one to stake Angel. I think he's owed that.
What was it they called him? The guy who sees things that others don't? He saw Angel for what he was the moment he laid eyes on him.
Tomorrow, I go to the comics shop and drop IDW's "Angel" series from my pull list. To say the least, I have no further interest in reading about him.
Whether Season 8 shares the same fate will depend on whether the #34 covers are actual literal depictions of Buffy's reactions, or just extraordinarily tone-deaf bits of cringeworthyness. Having Angel be a mass-murdering villain is bad enough without Buffy being a moron as well.

Well in the Buffyfest interview, he wouldn't answer that question, so it is definitely a possibility. I don't know though, I can't imagine Angelus working with humans. Twilight is surrounded by them and they don't seem to fear him all that much. Perhaps Angelus is just using them, but I can't see him letting hanging with Warren and Amy.
I think Angel is not in control of his actions. If it does tie in to Willingham's run, Angel's current predicament could lead to him losing who he really is.

I just read a few more spoilers and after feeling to cry I've decided on something. I will read no more Buffy season 8 until the last issue is released, to be able to enjoy the full experience better. No more spoilers. No covers, no solicitations, I even made sure I can't see avatars or banners. If anyone wants to know the spoiler, read here(but only if you're curious about Twilight): Releasing the covers was a misstake. Angel(us) is Twilight. Frak!

I hate Twitter. It's horrible. It just ruined my life.
If this isn't a joke, I'll cry.

I´m still not warm with "it was a mistake". It seems so dilettantish.
Just speculation: Is it right that the cover of #34 is an homage to the wolverine-emmafrost-cover that is posted in this thread on page 6?
If so, the cover could be misleading this time as well. Just like scott and emma kiss, though he looks like wolverine, buffy could kiss someone who impersonates Angel, just to get closer to her.
What do you think?

Scott said in the Buffyfest interview that Jeanty's cover was an homage to a John Byrne Superman cover where Supes and Wonder Woman kiss (think Emmie posted it already) and that it shouldn't be taken as a literal depiction of what will occur in the issue.

It could very well be that while they're lovey dovey kissing on the variant cover, the interior and story could be the exact opposite! Buffy has killed Angel once and I doubt she would hesitate to do the same again if she had to. We know from Conversations w/Dead People that she'd even sacrifice Dawn to save the world, now. A decision she was utterly against two seasons prior.
But then again we know Buffy is flawed. What I find most interesting is how this will play out? I bet one million dollars that someone from Buffy's "side" chooses to side with Angel. Maybe Giles and Faith? Maybe Dawn? Maybe Willow?

It will definitely be interesting to see how Faith reacts to all of this, as she is the next closest person to Angel currently in Season 8, besides Buffy of course.

I could see this being a farce. -They faked us into believing Buffy would see Drusilla. Remember? They did everything from in-text clues to a blackened face on the variant cover. -Didn't they hold a title and cover before an issue came out to keep a surprise? I believe it was Buffy's flying and the cover to "Turbulence"....Why wouldn't they do this again? Twilight is a bigger reveal than B fly!
Then again, I could see them putting B/A back together, only for Joss to rip them apart right when they reach a happy spot and kill one of them (see Jenny/Giles, B/A season 2, Willow/Tara, Anya/Xander in Chosen, Xander/Renee...Lame plotpoint).

Now what's gonna happen IDW's Angel arc? I know it's not canon but still...

Now what's gonna happen IDW's Angel arc? I know it's not canon but still... As reported in the CBR article, it's said that Joss will rectify the Angel After the Fall storyline, with Season 8. So it will all connect and make sense. On that note, I really think Twilight=Angel is the way Angel is trying to avoid that apocalypse we were shown.

Sorry had to mention the lolz. Dark horse have posted on their facebook
"so... angel is twilight, discuss the clues and foreshadowing, best observation wins a Buffy hardback cover"
All theyve got is abuse so far. Backfire much....

OverkillI don't think it was ever 100% confirmed that those stories are canon. In fact I think that they are not. Don't quote me on that though!

Nothing conclusive has been said about what Joss' intentions are, other than that he will reconcile the two franchises. However, that said, he's not obligated to recognize what he doesn't want to, since none of the ANGEL franchise post-"AtF" has ever been officially declared canon. Whatever will be will be. Why worry about all that when you don't even know where we're actually headed yet.

I just think amidst the flurry of people posting about Angel=Twilight, now IDW fans are wondering what will become of the story they've been following.
