I finally got some money from Christmas and fancy adding to my comics shelf. I already ordered Vol. 1 of Preacher, and I've ordered Blankets. Two graphic novels I've wanted to read for a long time.
Does anyone have any suggestions for comics I should check out? I've been looking at From Hell, V For Vendetta, The Boys (I read about 6 issues a couple years ago and really liked it so I'll probably end up getting that), Maus, Pride of Baghdad, Transmetropolitan and some others, but anything similar to this is what I'm after at the moment.
Got any good/bad words about these? or some other titles you can offer to me?

Well, for starters, if you're gonna read Maus, picking up Batman: The Dark Knight Returns and Watchmen is recommended as well. It's the triad of comics that came out in 1986 that are excellent examples of what comic books can do that other mediums cannot. And as to the quality of Maus - I was moved. Deeply. Maybe it's just that I'm Jewish and I like stories about Jews (especially Holocaust survivors) but the story of Maus is just so incredible. My roommate gets mad props for recommending it. If you're peeking at Frank Miller's stuff, his runs on the Daredevil on-going basically set the tone of the character. Sin City is also recommended, and 300 of course. Absolutely give Kirkman's The Walking Dead a shot. It's just fabulous. And of course, I'll plug Y: The Last Man here as well. One of my all-time favorite stories.

Definitely gonna look into 300, Sandman and Sin City. I've only heard good things about these so they should be interesting. Thanks guys.
Already a big fan of Y: The Last Man, Watchmen and The Walking Dead. Love 'em.
If anyone else has considered reading Scott Pilgrim, but never got round to it, do it nowww! I read the first 5 pages yesterday and brought it straight away.

If you enjoy horror/supernatural definitely try out IDW's Locke & Key, as it's just about as perfect as a series can get. Brilliant writing and art.

If you want to try something more mainstream, Joss' Astonishing X-Men is pretty good. I'm positive that all the issues have now been collected in TPBs, so they should be relatively easy to hunt down.

They also released a hardcover with everything. I think its a bit pricey but may be cheaper than buying all the TPBs.

I've been thinking about buying a TPB, but since I think I'll love the comic, I'm ready to take a shot and buy the HC.
