::COVERS:: "Umasked" cover in spoiler tags. DO NOT click if you don't already know who Twilight is. The reference image for the homage cover: ::SOLICITATION::Brad Meltzer (W), Georges Jeanty (P, Cover), Andy Owens (I), Michelle Madsen (C), and Jo Chen (Cover) On sale May 5 FC, 40 pages $2.99 Ongoing
Brad Meltzer concludes his blockbuster run on Buffy Season Eight! After last issue’s climactic encounter between Buffy and the unmasked Twilight, the Slayer army’s entire mission has been altered and the true nature of the threat they face has been revealed. Everyone is in place to confront the Big Bad once and for all as Buffy’s most epic season races toward the final arc, written by Joss Whedon! • Executive produced by Buffy creator Joss Whedon! • Final issue of Brad Meltzer’s game-changing arc on Season Eight! Hi-res covers and solicitation courtesy of CBR! "Unmasked" cover courtesy of MTV.com. ::PREVIEW::If you're still a Twilight-virgin (you know what I mean), DO NOT under any circumstances click the spoiler tags. I mean it. If I catch whining after you do, there'll be some spankage. Not the sexy kind. Anyway, this is of course courtesy of MTV.com. CLICK to read the original article, which is of course, spoilerific. You've been warned... The Chen covers are cool, though. Kinda reminiscent of her #26 cover. Wondering if there'll be three covers for this issue then... ETA: On second thought, methinks that the "masked" version would have been the doctored version for solicits, and the unmasked version will be the final printed cover. Guess we'll have to wait a month before solicits come out for May... wonder if Jeanty's cover will be withheld for some reason... can't imagine anything more spoiler-ish... but then again, there are a few who've not seen the covers for #34.

If I catch whining after you do, there'll be some spankage. Not the sexy kind. Well that sucks. Lol. Anyway I'm starting to be more convinced now. I can't wait to get the issue already. It's driving me crazy I a little very impatient sometimes. Edit - The covers really do look amazing also.

Poor Buffy doesn't look happy. I find it intriguing that there are two different covers which depict Twilight and Angel separately, as if they're two different people. I can't help but hope that supports the theory that there are two different Angels involved here. Hope springs eternal. Or until Joss decides to lower his Hurt Hammer, whichever comes first.

Its mentioned in Scott's apology article that the one covering Twilights face is the one that is meant to be released in previews. But the other one is the one that will be on the comic. But the cats out the bag now, so they released both to show us. The OTHER issue is also meant to have released the fake ones. Such as Twilights mask still on in the previews.

Gorgerous, gorgeous covers. Everyone looks perfect, 100%photorealistic but also totally expressive and natural. One of my favourite covers.
Btw, the masked cover isn't showing up for me when I click on it.

That is definitely the best group of likenesses I've seen on a Buffy cover yet.

Wow, wow, wow. I'm still in shock about Twilight being Angel, but man, these covers are completely beautiful. I'd go out on a limb and say this is the best set of covers that Jo's ever done for Season 8.

Wait... we can't buy the #35 cover with the mask on? Lol. I liked that one better.

Stunning! One of the best yet. Heavily referenced (can see the photos/episodes some are based off of in my head), but whatever. Everyone looks amazing together.

That is quite amazing and possibly my favorite cover yet. I love it when series do covers like this (like the #26 cover), and the composition of this one is just fantastic.

Heavily referenced (can see the photos/episodes some are based off of in my head), but whatever. Tis my biggest complaint about Chen's covers lately. If she doesn't heavily reference (i.e. occasionally copy the entire image) something, her covers turn out pretty, but usually with some kind of mildly grotesque disfigurement of a character. The linebacker necks on both Buffy and Willow come to mind. Or the over elongated arm of Aluwyn. That said, this one does pretty much nail the likenesses of the characters.

Let's review all those wonderful facial expression, shall we?
Giles: Calm, collected, a bit superior, do I see a faint smile. This one is really puzzling. Looks like he knew it all, or is on Twilight side.
Xander: He looks like someone threading a fine line carefully, slowly weighting all is options before making a serious decision (He does look a tad too young. But I'm nitpicking here)
Willow: Shock, Horror. She can't believe her eyes. It was bad, now it's worse.
Faith: Kinda the same kind of uncertainty as Xander, 'cept she looks more skeptical than him.
Dawn: Oh my god is she angry! Teeths blaring, eyes blazing with rage, little sister is not happy. Why is she so angry compared to the others?

Wait... we can't buy the #35 cover with the mask on? Lol. I liked that one better. Perhaps its possible to buy too, but it was made to hide the identity of Twilight in early solicitations.

The very first thing I thought after looking at the covers:
"Oh my god! Flashback to Normal Again, it's all in her mind!"

The very first thing I thought after looking at the covers: "Oh my god! Flashback to Normal Again, it's all in her mind!" Oh god, I hope they don't use that storyline!...that would so not be cool IMO. Edit- I LOVE the covers! Chen is full of amazingness!

I think its the first. The first true nature of power which lies in its ability to deceive, torment and manipulate others. Which Angel would be the ultimate weapon against Buffy of manipulate her. If i recall the first can merge with certain beings, imbuing them with superhuman strength, stamina and durability, so it could happen that the first give him the power, so that could explain his power and strength and the abilities to fly.
