I'm curious to see what Faith's reaction to Buffy's new superpowers is and how she's going to handle being captured, along with Giles by Twilight/Angel.
I have a feeling Faith's going to feel somewhat inadequate now that Buffy's powers are clearly more superior, and she's probably still hurting somewhat after the events in "No Future For You" when she tried to save Buffy from the rogue slayer and ended up getting mistakenly beaten up by Buffy. She also has strong feelings for Angel, and that could complicate things.
I'm thinking it's interesting that Twilight also grabbed Faith's current partner/Watcher Giles. They now have a history of working together, and Twilight/Angel may use that to sabotage Buffy.
As to why he captured "what's-his-name" Andrew, I have no clue. Didn't realize what the joke was on that until I recently re-watched Buffy Season 7, and realized it was an homage to that season as NOBODY could remember Andrew's name through most of that season!

Apparently, Twilight's minions just grabbed a bunch of people. Faith, Giles, and Andrew incidentally happened to be in the round-up, and were isolated because of their importance. So the nabbing of the three wasn't so much intentional as it was mostly serendipitous.

I must say the likenesses on these covers are absolutely amazing- the best so far, so congrats to all involved. I really can't wait for this issue. I mean really

I love everyone's expressions, especially Giles, Dawns, Faiths, and Willows. I like how Dawn's pissed off, and Willow's likeness looks like in the episode "Tabula Rasa".

Jeanty's cover for this issue is up. Another homage, this time of the X-Men. It's a pretty disquieting cover, of course. Again, hard to tell if it's meant to be a literal representation of what's going on in the story. There's an interview with Georges there, too. Mostly stuff we already know, although I was interested to see him use the terminology "perceived to be the villain" in season 8, accompanied by references to Angelus.

Fangasm!!! ;D ;D I've been hoping for an X-Men homage cover for ages! I was hoping for X-Men #1 or Giant-Sized X-Men #1 (the most iconic X-covers) but this is brilliant. That particular X-Men issue took place immediately after the suicide of Dark Phoenix; at her funeral, Cyclops reflected on his time with the team (with flashblacks to every single past X-Men story) before deciding to leave. The issue ends with Kitty Pryde officially joining the X-Men, representing new blood/hope for the team's future. So... that implies the death of a major character, Buffy leaving the Scoobies, or some kind of flashback issue. I think Buffy leaving is the most likely; this cover has been homaged a lot and it seems to be the definitive "someone is leaving" imagery. Btw, I love how the background features covers from the original Dark Horse run, and not just Season Eight. Great detail.

That is f-en awesome! I love all the old non-canon covers, and no Dawn in that pic I love her but that death (blood of the key ) would be epic if true.

Or Dawn might have been exposed as the mole and gone back to Twilight. The closest and most unexpected betrayal...
The expressions are great. Buffy looks both sad and scared, like she really doesn't want to be going where she's going. The three who have been with her since the beginning... Giles, Xander, and Willow... look anguished. Satsu and Faith look pissed off. Kennedy is just concerned for Willow, and Andrew is pretty unreadable.
We've got a lot of pain ahead of us.
But on the bright side... Satsu is still around as of #35! Go girl! And she seems to have been promoted to the rank of Scooby Gang member.

Yeah, I like how she's rubbing shoulders with the A-list. I think as of "Predators and Prey", it's safe to include Andrew, Satsu, Kenders and That Brunette Chick Who Never Speaks Anymore in the imaginary Season Eight "credits"? Any objections, people?

The homage cover is for the issue in X-Men where Cyclops leaves the group after the suicide of Dark Phoenix. Paul already noted that. Buffy is in place of where Cyclops was.
I see one of two options happening after seeings this cover and they both have to do with Dawn.
1. Dawn dies in the previous issue. Buffy is very upset and reflects on her time with Dawn very similar to how Cyclops reflects on his time with Jean in that issue. That can explain why Xander is so upset.
2. Just like Andrew said, Dawn could be the mole which could cause the looks on Buffy and the rest of the crew's faces.
If it has nothing to do with Dawn's absence in the cover then it could be:
3. Buffy is kicked out or just leaves the group for whatever reason. I hope they don't do this because that would be very similar to the end of season 7.
I personally think #2 is most likely. Besides the fact that killing Buffy's sister would be torture for her, this would be the final straw for Xander. I mean, come on, why torture him that much? Cordelia, Anya, and Renee are already all dead. Why add Dawn to the list? Does Joss enjoy killing the people he loves that much? lol.

All of Xander's previous girlfriends got stabbed in the back... maybe Dawn is the one who returns the favor? But again, we've got to avoid reading these covers too literally.

But again, we've got to avoid reading these covers too literally. This was a very specific homage though... like I said before, this is the definitive "leaving a team" comic cover, it's been homaged dozens of times. Kinda like how Giant-Sized X-Men #1 is the definitive "new team" cover. See this article, Covering the X-Men (scroll down a bit).

Wow, Jeanty really knocked the covers out of the park for this arc. I may have to buy them along with my usual order of Chen. He's da bomb! (And everybody older than 14 just groaned at me. )

Oh, I think it definitely indicates a departure or a splitting up... possibly psychological rather than physical. Not necessarily an exact parallel of what happened in X-Men. Georges may be doing homage covers, but I don't think they're in response to homage plots by the writers.
And Dawn's absence from the lineup doesn't mean she's dead/missing/a traitor... that question has come up before on his other covers, and it's usually been just a question of the composition that guides who he includes. Dawn is there in the "floating heads" inset, and she's in the Jo Chen cover as well.
Obviously this is Buffy's story, so if there's a split-up here, it's because Buffy has to go confront Twilight (or whomever the real Big Bad is) alone.
