CBR has the latest interview with Joss, regarding Dollhouse. CLICK to read. From what it sounds like, Joss is pretty done with it. His answer to the show moving to comic format is an "unequivocal" no, and he's more interested in pursuing new ideas, as well as focusing on older ones (S8, and presumably, S9). Oh well, show had a good run, and I'll be pre-ordering the second season when it becomes available on Amazon.com.

I completely agree with Joss' choice. I'd hate to see more things done with Dollhouse. It's an amazing show, so let's leave it at this. Always good to see what Joss will come up with next.

I agree with his choice, but after this amazing second season I am really sad to see Dollhouse go. It has been consistently getting better every week. But that could also be credited to it's ending. They may have squashed a few things in that wouldn't have happened yet, had the show been renewed. It's a mixed bag. One thing is, I am just grateful we get the completed story and not some sort of rushed ending. That is one good thing. And another good thing is that Joss might just focus on Buffy for a while. Am I the only one who thinks "If I were Joss I'd totally focus on 'Buffy' for a time, since that is always a sure success" ?

They may have squashed a few things in that wouldn't have happened yet, had the show been renewed. It's a mixed bag. I think that's it exactly. As great as these last few eps have been, it's because they knew the clock was ticking and they had to get everything wrapped up. If the show had been picked up for the full 22 , we probably would've had several more mediocre "filler engagement"-type eps. You know the sort: Echo is a lifeguard. Plenty of "Baywatch"-ian slow-motion jiggle as she runs along the beach, and then manages to save someone singlehanded from a 15-foot-long great white shark. Or Victor is a ski instructor, and he, the client, and the client's friends are trapped in a log cabin by an avalanche. Just as they're drawing straws to decide who gets et first, Sierra parachutes in and saves them. And then she and Victor make out. I'm sorry to see it go, but I'm not sure it's going "just as it's really getting good" so much as "it's really getting good because it's going."

Interesting that Joss admits to regrets about the pace of the show. He probably could have done a lot more in season 1, but things went wrong from the revised pilot onwards that pushed him back a few hours.

Maybe he'll reconsider down the road. A Dollhouse movie perhaps? I would LOVE to see that happen.

I just have to think, what if FOX had let Joss do his thing in the beginning? They made him re-do the pilot because it wasn't episodic enough for FOX. Then, viewers thought it was too episodic, with no real story going from episode to episode. In those first 5 eps, Dollhouse lost most of its viewership, and it seemed doomed to fail after its first season. FOX only renewed it because the core fans threw a fit, and not so core fans jumped ship because FOX could cancel literally any moment...... who wants to invest in a show on Friday nights that isn't advertised and may or may not be canceled tomorrow? Well, chicken or egg aside, viewership dropped massively in the second season and FOX cancelled.
Two things really: 1) I love me Dollhouse. 2) Not so much FOX.
ETA: Any word on Joss' new project yet?

The first 5 episodes of the show were dull, but they didn't affect the ratings at all. It's a myth. The numbers were bad right from the start and stayed pretty consistant throughout the entire run. From a creative standpoint, the show probably would have been better off, but the numbers likely would have sucked regardless thanks to the death-slot.

ETA: Any word on Joss' new project yet? Well Felica Day said in an interview that once Dollhouse had wrapped up that Joss will put his main focus on the Dr. Horrible sequel.
