I bet this has to do with the Spike series. He said somewhere that the Spike series starts out with Spike going to see a movie made about Angel, and Spike becomes Angel's love interest (and a woman) in the film.

I would looooooove to have that first one on my wall. It may just be Stephen's best work yet. You read my mind. Want to ask him if he's selling before I do? Well, I always thought Spike dressed like a male prostitute who catered to men.

Brian teased that more would follow on his blog and at Whedonesque. I wonder if this has something to do with the official title or if it was just for fun? Brian said a while ago that it was an in-universe movie. After the Fall of L.A., Hollywood made a movie about Angel, but totally bastardised what actually happened. Like, they made Spike Angel's female love interest. Brian says in Spike #1, Angel and Spike meet at the movie theatre. Cue awkwardness when they have to watch themselves as lovers in the movie.

This is epic. It'd be awesome if this is an actually issue of the series, just a "movie" version with actual actors, that'd be hilarious. Mooney's art is amazing. Really trying to figure out who is playing "Spike" and Illyria. All I can guess is Wanda Sykes. EDIT- Oh yeah, forgot about the Spike thing. Hope we'll see "clips".

I'm surprised more people weren't already aware of this. Brian revealed it way back when Spike was first announced, at some convention video interview. It's bloody hilarious is what it is.

Brian said on Whedonesque
"It is not for the SPIKE series. It's for something far more wonderful. You will want to hug a comic book. You will want to marry a comic book. You will want to feed a comic book soup.
Wonderful, wonderful things are coming. This REBUFFY news (I hope that name sticks) is a very strange coincidence... "
Not sure if it confirms or dismisses my hopes

He said somewhere that the Spike series starts out with Spike going to see a movie made about Angel, and Spike becomes Angel's love interest (and a woman) in the film. Oh yeah I completely forgot about his interview where he talked about the movie idea. I can't wait to see how it all plays together. This could even be the second cover for Spike's new series (I'm assuming Franco is also doing covers), or even an issue in the main ANGEL title that kick starts Spike's new series. Gah so exciting! You read my mind. Want to ask him if he's selling before I do? Lol you can go ahead, I don't have the money now for it even if he is. Really trying to figure out who is playing "Spike" and Illyria. All I can guess is Wanda Sykes. I'm thinking the Fem-Spike may be modeled after Angelina Jolie's character from Gone in 60 Seconds? It'd fit, considering Angel is Nic Cage. I have no idea who is playing Illyria, my only guess would be Nikki Wood lol. EDIT: Brian said on Whedonesque "It is not for the SPIKE series. It's for something far more wonderful. Chris Ryall offered up a few more details on his BLOG: As did Stephen Mooney on his BLOG: So exciting! Sounds like this ties into the ANGEL #26+ storyline. Chris also mentioned something called ANGEL ANNUAL, so I wonder what that is. Nick Runge is also working on the movie poster and coloring it. It's nice to see all of the principle creative team from After the Fall coming back! Now we just need Franco to add some of his awesomeness. ;D

This is just sounding more and more epic. The "red-band" trailer thing is making me laugh. Can't wait!

Red-band?

A Red Band trailer is a movie trailer that shows R-rated content. You know how a normal trailer has that green "The following preview is rated..." screen before the trailer starts? That's called a Green Band trailer. So a Red Band trailer will usually have a red "The following preview is rated R..." screen before the trailer plays. They recently became popular and a lot of movie theaters even show Red Band trailers before an R rated movie sometimes too.

I see. Is R-rated movies with naughty stuff in it?
hahaha, we'll get to sex scenes between Spike & Angel... Ooh wait, between Cage and she-Spike.
Not as funny.

Maybe the "Annual" will come out in November since it'd be two years since After the Fall started. Don't a lot of comic series have Annuals? I swear I've heard that somewhere.

Buffy had annuals, but I think it was just reprints of other comics.
