Is just about any woman Xander dates doomed to have major insecurity issues and feel like she's playing second fiddle to the two extremely important women in his life, Buffy and Willow? Cordelia seems to sense that she's not as important to him as they are: "Do you even want to be here? Because when you're not babbling about poor, defenseless Willow, you are raving about the all-powerful Buffy." Anya similarly seems threatened by his closeness to Willow (see "Triangle"). This is one reason why Xander ending up with Dawn actually kind of makes sense to me. If anyone could handle his relationships with Buffy and Willow without being threatened, it'd be someone who loves them both just as much as he does.

Actually I think Dawn will even feel a bit threatened by Buffy. I think Dawn can handle it better, but I think on some level Dawn would be a little threatened by her older sister.

Yeah, Dawn finds Buffy hot and might be worried that she'll try to win over Xander (as she did before with RJ). Either of the Summer's girls would be good for him and they'd be an adorable couple. Or both together, they could just share him. Much as Oz and Kennedy could just share Willow.
Yeah, xander not much luck with the women, they do seem to end up dead on him. He loves all his scooby women, from CC to Tara and they love him back. Just got to find the right one

I think Xander would be the best guy (other than Spike) for Buffy. I believe they've been pulling at that since the very begining of the show. Even SMG believes that. Willow says she is over him and I for one believe her.

While I think that he's a great guy, both of them are absolutely terrible communicators, keeping things bottled up and then unleashing at boiling points. I think that they'd end up fighting all the time. Spike and Riley are both pretty up-front about things, which make them better partners than Xander would be. The less said about Angel the better - but let's face it - how much crap did they go through just because they never knew what the other was feeling? No communication there.

I agree that they both are bad communicators there, but I think Xander wouldn't be afraid to call her out on her crap. He never has. I'm not saying they'd be perfect, but I'd like to see what would come out of that relationship if it ever got the chance to grow to that level.

He does call her on her crap, but tends to do it when the crap has already hit the fan and she's in turmoil, rather than reaching out to her earlier when his intervention might make a positive difference.

Neither Xander and Buffy are pefect, they're both flawed but then maybe that's what makes them so right for one another?

Neither Xander and Buffy are pefect, they're both flawed but then maybe that's what makes them so right for one another? Well, nobody's perfect, but I think that in this case, the flaws of both characters are similar and would lead to long stretches of quiet, moody frustration interspersed with an infrequent, but explosive confrontation.
