Davis/White and Virtue/Moir were great! I was so happy for them both.

I'd like to watch the women's giant slalom, but no, there's fog, and the hour here in old Europe is getting late ...

If the US couldn't win, it's nice to see the host country win it. And Canada's full of nice people. (A little too nice, even; what exactly are you guys trying to hide? ) But it was awesome to see the US take the gold in the bobsled last night! That's hands-down my favorite event, but it's always been kind of a downer, watching the Americans finish 5th, 6th, or 7th every time. But not this year! ;D

Did you watch the closing ceremonies where we poked fun at ourselves? How often we say sorry, our national animal is the beaver and the moose is a Canadian icon? It was all tongue-in-cheek. And, before the ceremony began - did you see the "fix-it" man raising the 4th column for the torch? It was hilarious. We want to win, but then we feel bad that someone else lost. But, we managed to overcome that with the Canada-US hockey game win. (Sorry about the gloating, but we do it so seldom). EDIT: BTW - For those of you who want to see more, buy some Olympic gear, see some videos, etc. then go to www.ctvolympics.ca/This is the official network (Canadian channel) and you can see some of the special moments. You can even buy the DVD set. If you have a chance to see the entire opening ceremonies (3.5 hours long) then I suggest you do. It was great and Canada is the first nation to recognize our indigenous people (the four First Nations on whose land the Olympics sit) as independent Nations and to be welcomed as Dignitaries from their nations.

I don't usually watch the opening or closing ceremonies--I'm mostly just interested in the sports. Remember: "Men like sports." ;D Nah, you should gloat. Especially given what a big deal it was up there. We lost, and it was kind of a bummer, but we're not really much of a hockey country, and most everyone had already forgotten about it by today. But up there it would've been a national tragedy to lose that game, so when you win something that big, yeah, go ahead and gloat. You deserve it.
