WILL THERE BE A SEASON NINE? from groups.yahoo.com/groups/btvs-angel-authorsSo, hopefully you know that Scott Allie, the editor of Season Eight can't give too many details away. I sent him an email with an excruciating long list of characters I know we all want to see, and asked him to tell us what issue they would be appearing in. I also asked him if Buffy would die for good after Season 8, since I figured Joss wouldn't want to continue on with more Buffy comics...Well, find out what he said:::::: "We're already talking about Season Nine, so she probably won't die in Season Eight, as I'd initially guessed. This is all I'm able to say about other characters for now—
> Faith: 5 > Willow: 2 > Andrew: 2 > Giles: 2

Interesting info!!!! I wonder if each of those numbers is how many issues will be devoted to that character? Nah...I'm pretty sure those are the issue numbers that will first show these characters. Faith is in the arc from #6-9, I'm sure in typical comics fashion Faith will show up on the last panel of #5. Also Willow fights Amy or at least her "Army of the undead" in #3 so she'll be in #2 and I've heard Giles is in #2. So there's my guess!

Colonel is right. I asked Scott what issue characters would be appearing in first!

I am glad to hear that Buffy wont die in Season 8, which generally would mean that there would have to be a Season Finale to Season 8. So how many issues are going to be considered Season 8 Issues? I can't wait to see Faith, it seems odd to wait so long. I wonder if Robin will still be with her. Seeing Willow, Giles and Andrew in Issue 2 will be nice. I wonder how long it will take for Willow to fix Dawn's GIANT problem.

One of the characters I asked about was Robin, but he wasn't allowed to say if/ when he would appear.

Colonel is right. I asked Scott what issue characters would be appearing in first! Woo Hoo yeah me! Thanks for the info buffysmglover! It's going to be impossible to predict how long this will run or how it will end. Joss has only finished 5 issues! I'm sure they've plotted at least up to the end of Drew's arc but anything past that is up in the air. It is exciting though with all this Buffy stuff!!!

Well if he (Scott) was guessing Buffy would die, then I am sure that the slayer shown in the Fray flashback is in fact Buffy. Which makes me sad. Why can't she live? I don't want her to die getting sucked out of our realm with the rest of the demons!!!!
It's not a good ending at all!!

I am so happy the series is continuing, but if it ends with Buffy getting sucked into that dimension with all the evil, sorry, but I will be PISSED! I really don't want Buffy, the show and character, to end like that. It will just be way too depressing and I think an unfitting end. I'm hoping it will be another Slayer, not Faith though, that we get to know in the comics, and Buffy can finally live a normal life.

Well, that would be the definition of a tragedy, but I for one don't want Buffy to be defined as a tragedy. In fact, that would color the whole show as the story of Buffy's journey towards a senseless and tragic end. It would ruin it for me. I loved the way the series ended with Buffy realizing she was free to do what she wanted to do now that she wasn't solely holding the weight of the world on her shoulders. Personally, I hated how Xena ended. I didn't think that show was nearly as dramatic as the Buffy show is, but by killing Xena off at the end and separating her from Gabrielle, the entire show was put in the light of it being a progression towards Xena's young death and she and Gabrielle being separated. I couldn't watch the show after that, becaause it was too depressing to watch their adventures in light of the doomed ending. I understand that a lot of Buffy fans like the idea of the doomed hero and ending Buffy's adventures. But for it would make me not want to watch the reruns anymore. The end of season 7 wouldn't be so hopeful anymore, but kind of pointless. Buffy is still so young and has so much life to live. I would like to feel that her character lives on, regardless of whether we are privy to her adventures or not.

Yeah, that'd be ridiculously stupid if Buffy died, and they better not write that. But if they did, I'd totally just block it out of my head and say it's not canon.
You don't end the television series the way it ended, and then kill off the heroine in a f**king comic book. What the hell is that shit?
That'd be such a slap in the face. Like breaking up with somebody through a text message or something.

I don't think this story is a tradgedy. So I don't see a need for her to be killed off. Especially in that manner. It's sort of barbaric in a way to have her banished from our dimension along with demons and magic. I don't like that idea. Although I do hope it is addressed eventually.
The page in Fray does say it happens, so somewhere along the lines, it must. Maybe it's Willow who is sucked into the vortex?

But don't they state that it's a Slayer? Or do they just say Warrior? I'm too lazy to pick up my Fray copy (well I'm eating with my hands, I don't want to get it dirty!!). They make it painfully obvious who the person is.

They make it painfully obvious who the person is. That's why part of me thinks it won't be Buffy; since when has Joss gone with 'obvious'? Cheerio, Michael. xxx

They make it painfully obvious who the person is. That's a good question. I looked and it says "A Slayer, along with mystical allies". But the panel with that on it does show a girl up against an army of demons. But the one with a girls hand coming out of the portal, it doesn't say who it was. So it is implied that it is "The Slayers" hand, but it might not be. I just don't want that to be Buffy's fate. How much torture does she have to endure, ya know?

There's probably going to be lots of twists and turns. In Fray, it's something like, "THE Slayer, and a few mystical allies", not "A Slayer and thousands of other Slayers, with a few mystical allies." I hope everything gets explained, if Joss ties this in with Fray, maybe something BIG happens and the Slayer line goes back to only one, plus, now Angel Season 6 coming, maybe it could get explained there too.
