At first, I thought "2012!!" but thats the ignorant teen talking. I think that its really concerning that all these earthquakes are happening at the same time. It makes me really worried about the weather to come. I'm no expert on all this seismology stuff, but it's still scary.

I'ved lived in California for the majority of my life, so the general thought of earthquakes does not scare me too much. I've also never been in an earthquake of this size. For the most part, I just feel for the poor folks that had to go through it. It is so tragic. I don't think that it is a sign of things to come necessarily, but I can understand why it would get people thinking about what else could happen.

To be honest I think that the movie 2012 one of the most scientificly speaking sound end of the world plans (with a few exceptions like everyone living and the earth cooling off enough to keep the water from evaporating.) The earthquakes are horrible. The one in Chilli has moved us off of our axis by three inches. That may not sound like alot but our days are now 1.26 microseconds shorter. Though there have been worse earthquakes that have moved us as much as 7 inches before, this could mean big things in the future. This could be putting us on a collision course with more astroids, or this could be how the earth has managed to (for the most part) avoid astroids. There is so much unknown about the science and where the data is leading us. From the human aspect. The loss of life is horrible. I couldn't imagine being in that situation even for a second. It only makes me realize how short life is and how you must live it to the fullest. My brother used to say this to me "Sleep when you can and eat till your full cause you never know when your next meal or chance to sleep is going to be."

I was born and raised in the Bay Area, and we've have had many earthquakes. Most of them small, and one reeeeaaaallly big one back in '89 (but I was a baby, so I don't remember it well.) A lot of people around here are like, "Zomagah! It's gonna be '89 all over again! But 10 times worse! We're gonna die!. America's next!" And my main thought is, "If the last 3 and a half years being tortured in college and paying money up the butt for it goes to waste because the world ends, I'm kicking the apocolypse's ass."

It's a little disconcerting on the global scale. I don't live by an active fault or anything, so the chances of a big string of earthquakes directly affecting me are sort of slim. However, it does make me wonder if there will just be more and more of these earthquakes, and the thought that these tragedies could keep repeating just sucks.
However, I'm an optimist. So I am choosing to believe that these events probably will not set off a string of worse events.
