I feel dumb, but for the first time I noticed he said something very similar in Pylea in season 2:
Gunn (to Angel): "I take the twenty on the left, you take the fifty on the right."
Cool call back I thought. I bet I'm way slow to make this discovery lol

That's nice. Makes the character more "real", that he likes a certain kind of jokes when feeling pressured.

Hmm, I never noticed that either but thanks for pointing it out. I love when they do call backs to previous moments/episodes. Makes everything seem more real.  |

I'm not entirely sure if it was an intentional call back, they do occasionally reuse the same kinds of jokes, however either way I still think it's a good moment, it's a good joke and a great way to show who Gunn is even when he's dying.

What do you mean by Gunn's "last line?" Did he die? Talking about the last line the character says in the entire show. I actually did notice this callback, but didn't think much of it because it felt like the right thing to say in both instances. *shrug* ETA: Also, the 30,000 on the left line is not Gunn's last line of the show. It's in response to Illyria's "You're fading. You won't last ten minutes." to which he says "Then let's make 'em memorable." Just a thing. |
