I have been thinking...just how strong do you think a slayer really is? We have seen some great examples in the show of some things they are capable of. What would you say the greatest feat of strength would be?
I think the bending of steel prison bars in the S6 finale, that would take some very powerful force. I'm talking about just pure display of power. Not a running jump kick, where she would have a good start.
How about her leap from standstill in The Harvest?
What else??

How about in season 3's episode Anne when she lifted that huge gate that the others couldn't budge. Pretty good display of strength right there.

Faith busting out of jail was a great display of strength. Buffy did the same thing when rescuing the monk from Glory. They fell three stories and Buffy used to body to take the impact!
Another great one that was mentioned was in Anne. Lifting that grate, which probably weighed a ton, or maybe two tons was a good one too! From a stand-still she is able to lift things with great power.
It would be cool if they actually say what slayers are capable of, and not. Kinda like a slayer "profile" or something.
Another cool one was in Angel, Faith picked up a 200lb barbell with one hand and used it to defend herself.

I don't think we've ever really seen the upper limit of a slayer's strenth. I can't remember (correct me if I'm wrong) a time a slayer tried to lift something and couldn't. Buffy can even hurt incredibly tough people like Glory just by punching them. She's REALLY strong.

I decided recently to re-watch the series from the start, and just a few minutes ago I saw the season 1 episode with the demon robot agin. In that episode, Buffy kept hurting herself when she punched the metal robot and there was a reinforced steel door that she didn't think she could break through. So it seems to me like she's far stronger than a human, but she's still not strong like Superman. Of course, at that point in the series she was fairly new at being a Slayer, so she might have gotten much stronger later.

... ooh, and who can forget Caleb's reaction when Buffy pulled the Scythe from the rock?? "It slices, dices, and makes julienne preacher."

I think the the Troll hammer is one of the most impressive, seein spike couldnt even lift it.
Also, when she kicks the bronze door in, breaking the hinges and wall around it in OMWF
but then buffy's strength just grows the older she gets. Which brings me to the question, has any slayer lived as long as she has? maybe so, but i definitely think they get stronger each day.

I think that the slayers get stronger. Kendra didn't seem that strong. She could fight and hold her own, etc. but Buffy was stronger. And Faith, who lasted longer, was stronger. I think the longer you are chosen, the more strength and agility you acquire and learn. so buffy will always be stronger than the other slayers and even slightly stronger than faith-though not by much.

from the time Buffy was chosen to now, she is in fact the longest living slayer. Also in Life Serial, buffy showed those construction guys who's boss when she lifted the steel pipes with ease.

how about in showtime, when buffy is picking up rona at the bus station and she picks up 2 bringers at once tossing them in the air to the side. i guess she doesn't have to worry about lifting with her legs

The fact that she faced Angelus, Spike, Darla, Drusilla, and the Master--the five baddest vamps in history, bar none--and not only lived, but had sex with two of them, killed one of them, and turned two of them good (Angelus counts, it was her plan in Becoming Part II) is a huge feat of her Slayerness.
