So as we all know (if you've watched it) Willow ReEnsouls Angel
in the nick of time during the end of Becoming Part 2. However Willow is young here and just starting out with the magics thing.
So she could of got the spell wrong and just ReEnsouled him without adding on the extra part of the curse that if he reaches perfect happiness he will revert back into Angelus. Just a thought i had the other day. Because when Spike was Ensouled he didn't have the extra clause of perfect happiness. Only Angel because the gypsies added that bit on???

Quite an interesting point you make here. But we do know from AtS that the perfect happiness clause was still intact. The writers obviously thought it was necessary to keep up the drama and tragedy that is the impossibility of a love between Angel and Buffy.

Willow used the same gypsy curse that was originally used on him, while Spike presumably got his soul from different magics, so that explains why Spike never had the "perfect happiness" problemo. Also, I really doubt that Willow would be able to perform such a complex spell successfully and just happen to leave out the negative effects without knowing it. Another thing, in "Eternity" Angel goes fake evil because of his fake happiness. Personally, it seemed to me that it was all psychological, but does anyone else have any thoughts? I haven't seen that ep. for a while... |

That's what I thought too. It's like in Awakening where just before he loses his soul he has to have sex with Cordy and say Buffy's name because in his head that's why he would lose his sould he had force it to make sense.
