Yes. Scott Allie has said that it will have a focus on Xander and an old villion will return. Which leads me to think that this is where the short story Antique from Tales of the Vampires will tie in, which is also written by Drew Goddard.

My only dislike about this is that the arcs all centre around one person and how things have affected them. Why can't it be just like the original series that just led up to the finale. I can't see how Dracula links in with the whole humans vs. slayers arc.
Although it does say that all of the Scoobies feature and that one of the TV shows biggest villains will be returning which, yeah sounds like Dracula.

Just wondering... Would somebody please scan or post a link to pages from 'Antique', the comic with Dracula and Xander, post season 7? I cannot find the comic in any store as with the TPB. Much appreciated.

I seriously doubt they're going to do anything in season 8 that has to do with previous Buffy comics. Those aren't part of the Buffy show canon, and most Buffy fans wouldn't understand. In an interview with Scott Allie, it was asked if Antique will tie into Season 8 and he replied with something like, "You'll find out soon enough." I'll try to find the link. EDIT: Here it is: www.slayerlit.us/interviews/interview12.htm

I know, I know. I'm just speculating. I always thought of Tales of the Slayers and Vampires as canon, seeing as how some of it is written by Joss. There was also an appearence of some Slayers from Tales of in The Chain.

Around the time issue #1 was coming out, I remember reading an interview with... I think Scott Allie (tho it could've been Joss) who, talking about Goddard's arc, described it something along the lines of "Xander and slayers stomping around Tokyo, with a fan-favorite villain returning". I specifically remember the "fan-favorite" description, and I don't think that applies to Dracula. I certainly hope not, at least--IMO, his one appearance on the show was, at best, mediocre, and at worst, a cheesy gimmick-ep that's best forgotten.
Ever since reading that comment, I've thought Drusilla was the most likely candidate for that arc's Big Bad. She's one of the only "fan-favorite" villains I can think of who's even still alive (or undead). And remember, we haven't seen her in the 'present-day' since she ran out of Spike's crypt at the end of "Crush", and with Goddard writing it, being such a self-professed "Buffy-geek", I can definitely imagine him thinking, 'I wonder what Drusilla's been up to these last few years? Let's find out...'
Or, who knows--maybe Dru's shacking up with Drac these days, and they'll both be in it. Good thing Spike's not evil anymore, or that'd drive him completely insane...

I do have a feeling that Drew Goddard will somehow tie the Antique story into this arc, he's a good writer so I'm sure he'll have a fitting way to do it. I'd like to see Dru with Dracular. Sounds interesting.

There was also an appearence of some Slayers from Tales of in The Chain. I personally consider the Tales of the Slayers & Vampires as canon. Really anything that Joss had a hand in writing/developing should be classed as canon. Especially now since he has made reference to it (in The Chain) as being canon.

Sounds interesting. He's not just a good writer--he's the best writer not named "Joss Whedon" the show ever had. For that reason, I'd hope he would realize Dracula was a lame idea the first time around, and bringing him back again is just :xp: . It's one thing to do it in sort of a 'side-story' like "Tales of the Vampires" (canon or not), but something completely different in the main continuity of S8. I've got no real complaint with him showing up briefly (or in the company of Dru), but I don't want to see him doing a 4-month-long solo stint as a Big Bad. Count me among those who hopes the events of the previous comics don't play much of a role in S8, 'cause I never read any of them, and still don't have much of an urge to, even with the Omnibuses coming out. Didn't Joss say in an interview recently that he hates crossovers in comics where you start a story in Spiderman and have to go buy Captain America to continue it? Wouldn't this be the same kind of deal?

I'd rather Dru show up then Drac because I do agree with you that his one appearence didn't really leave a lasting impression. If the whole Antique thing isn't the main story of the arc, then it could be Buffy just telling Xander, "Remember that time you were Dracula's man-servant?" Which I think could be better because I want Drusilla, but don't kill her, no killing any characters. But only time will tell.
The only Buffyverse comics I consider canon are: Season 8, Tales of the Vampires, Tales of the Slayers, Fray and the upcoming Angel: After the Fall. The Omnibuses are in no way part of canon.

hitnrun, i'd prefer this too because people that haven't read 'Antique' can class the whole manservant thing as to be from Buffy vs. Dracula.

1) I really really think it's gonna be Dru.
2) The Tales of series is considered canon. Joss had a hand in a number of the minis. The slayers that appeared in The Chain ALL had their own story in Tales.

Ever since Scott Allie said that the Scoobies will be heading to Tokyo, this is the arc I've been looking forward to the most. I mean just think about it: The Scooby Gang in Tokyo, Japan! That is just way to cool. I can't wait to see how this works, like why are they going to Tokyo? The old villian is also exciting and Drew Goddard is major plus.

I would like to see ol' Dru again. The thought of her and Dracula together has me rolling with laughter! I just wonder what they would be doing in Tokyo. Maybe Dru is with another chaos demon!!! :sprint:

Where is Satsu from? Do we know? That might be a connection. It never said where she's from. You can tell she is of Asian descent though. Plus she's got that whole cutie-pie Harajuku girl thing going on with the customized gear and clothing. Hellooooo kitty!

A villain? Could this possibly be D'Hofryn or even Anyanka (sorry for the spelling) as Joss announced that Anya will be returning so that fits in with the arc being about Xander. Just an idea that popped into my head.

Should work a lot better than when Smallville characters went to Japan or whereever they went in Season 4.
