The Master. Such a great episode ending. I still remember my joy when I first saw it as a kid. It might not look as cool now, but it's still awesome. Dawn dusting Justine(was that his name) in All The Way is also a favorite, because it shows her strength. It was actually Justin.

Buffy killing the vampire at the end of The Body. Don't know about it being a favourite. But I'll never forget it. That entire scene was downright brutal in every way possible -- from the 14-year-old Dawn being attacked by a naked man to the way Buffy killed him (not a simple stake through the heart, not a clean beheading from afar with something throwable, but a violent, up-close decapitation with a bone saw). Not to mention the intrusion into Buffy and Dawn's grief at a time when both were at their least equipped to handle anything extra. All of which was very intentional on Joss' part -- he wanted to make it as raw and physical and unpleasant as possible. The Master. Such a great episode ending. I still remember my joy when I first saw it as a kid. It might not look as cool now, but it's still awesome. Dawn dusting Justine(was that his name) in All The Way is also a favorite, because it shows her strength. It was actually Justin. That's another pretty brutal scene. Not only did the boy she liked (and had her first kiss with) turn out to be evil, but she ended up having to kill him herself -- and the way the scene played out, with him ending up on top of her and his vamp-dust ending up all over her when he disintegrated, only added to the sense of brutality and violation.

I always thought that the cymbal decapitation was the most badass. I think it was in the Harvest, maybe?
I also would rank Xander killing Jesse pretty high up though. I don't really know why. I guess it was just how hard it was for him to even attempt it, but he ended up doing it on accident before he could get a chance to back down.

I like the vamp that is helping Dalton to rob the crypt in "What's My Line Pt 1" at the beginning. It's not the most remarkable staking now, but his dust blows across the water and settles into the actual shot, mixing the special effects with real camera work. I remember at the time being blown away by the effect. Everything afterward just seemed to build on that moment as far as stakings went...

I loved vampire Willow getting staked by Oz, Again in Doppelgangland. That was pretty funny At first I thought you meant the scene in The Wish, and I got real mad because that scene was so sad, but then I re-read what you wrote.

I also love the vamp who kicks Buffy while he's turning into dust. It's a very cool effect! Plus it's made funnier by Buffy's "How hard you gonna kick when you're blowing in the wind" line.
Plus, it's the first time you see a vampire still in motion while they're turning to dust. Usually they just fall and explode.

I really enjoy all of the stakings in "The Freshman," "Into the Woods," and "The Wish," "Anne," and "Chosen." They're all my favorites. I think the one that makes me laugh the most is when Buffy stakes a vamp with a unicorn. It's just so "wtf?"

So, throughout the entire series, which vamp-dusting was your favourite to watch? One of mine is in 'Into the Woods', where Buffy stakes three vampires in one move. Another one is from 'Who Are You', when Faith stakes a vampire and spins him in the air Yeah, the one from 'Who Are You' in the church was the first one that came to mind but I thought it was Buffy who staked that dude.I've been planning to watch that ep. so I'll sit down tonight & have another look.Chances are I'm probably wrong! Another good one is in 'The Real Me' where Buffy uses Harmony's unicorn statue to stake someone.

In "Beer Bad"- the very beginning when Buffy, I think stakes the vamp, jumps & kicks him (or kicks the stake to drive it through) as he's mid-dusting. It's a cool effect & It's similar to her dusting the vamp and flipping him over mid-dust in "Who Are You" (technically it was faith who did that move).
In "Anne" when Cordelia and Xander dust a vamp lying in between them and they end up falling on top of each other is another good one. Buffy staking Dracula was somewhat corny, but still memorable and staking Sunday was funny and good b/c it highlighted her characters attitude- but it's not a favorite because I wish she didn't die so soon! Of course- the Xander, Willow & Angel dustings in "The Wish" are probably the most classic dustings of the show.
oh and does spike ramming a stake in harmonys chest in "Harsh Light of Day" count?? Because that was a damn funny moment-- not like every moment with Harmony isn't funny.

In "Anne" when Cordelia and Xander dust a vamp lying in between them and they end up falling on top of each other is another good one. I always wonder in scenes like that one -- and the one where Dawn stakes the teenage vampire who's lying on top of her -- why they don't seem to react to the large quantities of dust that you'd think would end up in their faces.

I don't know if this is my favorite, but it's one of the most memorable for me. Willow dusting the vamp with with the floating pencil. That was pretty awesome.

There's a scene where Giles is patrolling and Jenny comes along. I can't remember what episode it is, but I do know it is in season two. Jenny accidentally shoots a arrow in Giles back as the vampire she was trying to hit laughs Giles then pulls the arrow out of his back and stakes the vampire with it. That was awesome.

One of my favorites is when Spike dusts the vampire in Lover's Walk after he tells him he's gone soft.
Spike: "Soft?" Lenny: "Yeah, like baby food." Spike: "Well then, let's give baby a taste!"
Spike: "Does baby like his supper? Does baby like his supper?" Spike: "Why doesn't baby have a nap?"
I always finds the way he smiles with satisfaction afterwards hilarious.
Spike: "Now that was fun"
I also like when Spike dusted the huge vamp that was choking Giles,by setting him on fire in the episode Bargaining. He always has a funny remark afterwards.
Giles: You might've let me in your plan while he throttled me!
Spike: I'm sorry. Did your life flash before your eyes - cup of tea, cup of tea, almost got a shag, cup of tea.

Mine was Spike's in 'Chosen.' It was such a great ending and a loss to the show that I just love it. And when Spike dusted the vamp in "Lover's Walk,' like the above post.
