I was sad when i read that this was going to go ahead, but instead Eliza took on Tru Calling. Which got cut a little bit into Season 2 which sucked. Anyway i was talking to a couple of friends doing a sort of "What if, FTVS was made" and what would happen etc... And we decided we were going try send Eliza some fan mail. And hopefully she would read it and maybe something would come of FTVS i know its highly unlikley but i think it would be really cool, if it did go ahead, because we need a new amazing Joss Whedon show that FOX doesn't cancel ¬_¬ Joss needs his own network haha. Anyway if we didn't mail Eliza we were gonna try do a petition or something, i just wondered if anybody else had any idea's or if they'd be intrested in writing or signing? www.petitionspot.com/petitions/FTVS ^^ please sign and tell people about it

I don't know if her or even Joss would still be willing to do something like that, but hey, can't get anywhere if you don't try.
However I didnt' think the only reason it wasn't made was because she went on to do Tru Calling. In fact, I got the impression that she did Tru Calling because that and the Spike TV show never happened. I don't know though, it's possible I"m remembering entirely wrong.

Yeah, it was a shame Tru Calling got cancelled i quite liked it. I think Faith got pitched and everything and a network was willing to pick it up but she turned it down for some reason, maybe it was because she didn't think she'd be able to carry her own TV show as Faith because Faith was the other slayer and totally different to Buffy. But im still gonna write

It's not a bad idea, I would have loved to watch it, however originally they were thinking of sending Spike that way too, and my fear was that they were going to pair up Faith and Spike...I may have died.

ED turned it down because she wanted to try something new (Tru Calling), rather than sticking with Faith and the Buffyverse.

Well no offense to Dushku, but she's already struck out twice. With Faith, she knows there's going to be an audience. Instead of being all "I wanna distance myself from Faith", she could embrace Faith because that was her breakthrough role.

Instead of being all "I wanna distance myself from Faith", she could embrace Faith because that was her breakthrough role. Yeah, but she could hardly know back in 2003 that "Tru Calling" and "Dollhouse" weren't going to last, could she? When she turned the spinoff down back then, it wasn't about "distancing herself from Faith"--it was that she was scared of being typecast. She was 22, her career was just beginning to get going, and she had just done a string of movies where she played characters very similar to Faith ("Bring It On", "Soul Survivors", "Jay & Silent Bob"), plus 5 years of playing Faith, off & on. She was worried that people would think that that's all she could do, and those would be the only types of roles she would be offered. She wanted to show that she could play other kinds of characters besides just "the bad girl". Hey, I would've loved to have seen a Faith spinoff, too, but under the circumstances I understand why she made the decision she did, and I respect her for it.

I agree, part of what Dollhouse was about even was to show Eliza's different abilities. She was sort of typecast as the tough sexy chick and Joss especially saw different sides of her. (Kind of like the mayor giving Faith the dress, I always wondered if that was Joss's idea to show a new side of both Faith and Eliza herself.)
I think a Faith spin-off would be/have been great and I would definitely watch it, but whether they got cancelled or not, I really liked Tru Calling and Dollhouse and I think they were good roles for her, unfortunately though, Fox execs are douchebags. They may have cancelled a Faith spin-off too if they had picked it up. They cancelled every other Joss show including Buffy and Angel.

It was the WB that aired it but it was Fox distributed programming. I'm not sure in that case who officially gave it the axe but either way it doesn't seem to matter who the poor guy is signed with.

I'm not sure in that case who officially gave it the axe but either way it doesn't seem to matter who the poor guy is signed with. 20th Century Fox was the production company of Buffy and Angel, but it wasn't the same Fox as the the network that aired Firefly, Tru Calling and Dollhouse. To put it in layman's terms, 20th Century Fox made Buffy and Angel and sold it to the WB who aired it and collected money from the ads. During both of the show's fifth seasons, WB decided they no longer wished to purchase the shows, thus canceling them.

Well there you go, but like I said, either way it never ends well. The only time I know of a Joss show getting it's full run is Buffy on UPN after the WB cancelled it.

So does anybody want to write to Eliza, with me cause i think she'd be up for it. We already know FTVS would have a audience because people love Faith.
And i think we need a new Joss Whedon show that doesn't get cancelled i loved Dollhouse and like you said it showed off how brilliant Eliza really is. I think she should go back and embrace Faith and bring something new to TV.
But like you said if they paired Faith/Spike i couldn't handle that lol, it's all about Faith/Angel even if they only hug i'd be happy cause it killed me they didn't even hug goodbye after Orpheus

Eliza is fab in everything she does, and Dollhouse really showed off what she is capable of and what a great actress she is. I would however love to see Faith return to the screen and would definitely watch it. She could always bring a new edge to Faith anyhow, now she and the character are a bit older and wiser.
I will help anyway I can with your letter/petition...

I would love FTVS. To be honest though realistically I don't think it's going to happen, but I signed it anyway.

Mmmmm ... Not sure ED is a fantastic actress but the character Faith was never my favourite in the Buffy series she only ever bought problems to Buffy and the the rest of the gang. I would have happily gone for a series involving Spike.

hmm. im not sure why people would want a show for Faith NOW. i mean i love Faith, and i wanted a show when Buffy was over for her, but isn't it kinda late?? Plus she's technically supposed to be with Buffy in S8 so how would that work? If anything i would love a movie for Faith centered around the story line of "Go Ask Malice". However, i don't know who would play Faith, and whoever who would do it would have to live up to expectations she may not be able to reach. :/
