That's so awful I'm sorry for your loss. I personally have never experienced this . . . but only because I don't have a collection to lose

Sorry to hear about the collection getting hit in the floods Dawn, fortunately the only thing that became ruined was the box for my 12" Human Faced Sideshow Spike -My daughter made some 'improvements' by scribbling on the mint box.
At least I had an excuse to get him out the box and let him play with the Barbies...

Except instead of coloring on the packaging, he opened her up. He said she was pretty and wanted to set her free. I couldn't be mad after that. It was too cute and sweet.

They have an cruise ship play set with a hot tub no guessing where he was headed... I have a policy now of getting them all out the boxes to let them play. It's more fun that way. Buffy sits in a sunlounger on my work desk with a large cocktail and a pair of pink heartshape sunglasses - she's having a well earned break.

Oh that is so cool, I bet seeing Buffy with her cocktail really cheers up those dreary days at work. I may have to steal your idea for my desk at work!!

But luckily I still have the opened one, though the accessories are long since lost. But she was sitting on the top shelf of my bookcase with all my Buffy books, which were luckily high enough to avoid water damage. I hope you didn't lose much (not just colleciton wise) as a result

Oh man that's so sad I am truely sorry to hear about this! I'm glad you and your are ok though. A few years ago all of my buffy DVDs were ruined by a pop explosion... I had all of the Buffy collector vans from barqs rootbeer on the shelf w my collection. They had been here for years and never caused a problem until I went on a long family trip in the middle of the summer. We turned off the central coolng system while we were gone and the cans got hot and exploded over my entire collection. I lost a MAC vamp angel And a p.g Buffy as well as all the paper boxes for m DVDs and most of the discs. Who knew that pop was so caustic?! It ate threw the enamil on the DVDs and peles he paint off the figures!

^ Oh, man! That is crazy! Of all the ways to lose something, I think that is the most random and bizarre. Sorry to hear about that.
And it kind of makes you think twice about drinking soda. lol. That is just crazy.

Okay, now I am really sad. Someone had made me a Custom Andrew from Storyteller, in a smoke jacket, sitting in a chair with a book. And it was in one of the boxes that got flooded. I've very upset. It was one of my favorites, and the only custom I had. Stupid Flood. I'm just going to quit looking through all the damaged boxes from the flood and just throw them away. What I don't know won't hurt me, right?

Thanks for the Karma. You're so sweet. And sadly, no. A guy I was dating a few years back sculpted him out of clay and fired him in a Kiln (sp), then painted him for me. My mom called yesterday because she was going through some boxes for me while I was at work, and asked if I wanted the box of "toys" with the busted guy in the chair. And my heart sank. When I got home and saw what he looked like, I almost cried. His head was broken off, one leg, both arms (one broken in 2 places), the chair legs were broken off of the base (two broken from the chair) and the base was cracked down the middle. And he had a bit of mold on him from where we didn't get the box to a dry place to air out fast enough. He was a total loss. Before this happened, I had no idea water could do so much damage. On a brighter note, our carpet should be here next week. That's a plus, right?

Have some karma.

My family is packing stuff today, and I unfortunately had to pack up my whole collection. I'm worried sick! My stuff always seems to get broken, or crushed, every move. I will be so mad if any of my TPBs get bent, or anything gets ruined. -Tries to calm down- Does anyone have any advice to keep it all from getting tarnished? Just little, helpful hints.

Small boxes. Don't put all your comics/books into big boxes, because they will "bump" into each other more easily, a lot more movement. And bubble wrap is probably good, then they bounce of the wrap, or whatever.

yes, I would try to find a box the exact size of the books. Ones where they will fit right down in and not shuffle.
Also, for figures, Bubble wrap is good, but I also use those packing peanuts. They seem to work really well. An I usually put a piece of cardboard between each layer of figures that way those on top don't settle down onto those on the bottom and break them.
Hope it helps.

:X Well, I didn't put them in small boxes, but it's all nicely packed into one big box, tightly. I hope that it'll be enough. Thanks for all of the replies!
