I've been rereading Wolves at the Gate, and I can't describe how wonderful this arc is.
The panels with Renee's death were so strong, and left me tearing up a bit. I keep wondering how it would have played if S8 was filmed, would it be as strong and emotional or would it have become cheesy?
The other moment that twisted my heart a little was Buffy watching Xander killing Toru, her expression filled with sadness and concern for him. Then she leaves the battle for Satsu and the others to finish as she walks, while giving orders, towards Xander. He notices her coming to him, and then breaks down in her arms and she hugs him to her.
If I'd believe that Buffy loves and cares about Xander it's this scene. Usually it's Xander who gives Buffy emotional support and we rarely see Buffy do the same to Xander, so it was a wonderful moment to have her there for him instead of the opposite.
Tell me about your most powerful/emotional moments in S8.

Those you mentioned, and...
Buffy killing Future Willow, and her reaction to it.
In "Retreat," Willow finally having her delayed reaction of grief at the news of what becomes of her in the future, and her despair over ever having a normal life.
Buffy finding out about the source of her superpowers.
Faith's reaction to Genevieve's death in NFFY.
Buffy and Satsu's talk in the hospital in A Beautiful Sunset.

Tell me about your most powerful/emotional moments in S8. The best aspect they have handled in S8 is the Buffy/Xander dynamic. I really can't think of a scene between them this season that wasn't good, or brilliant. From the emotional heavy moments, to the great comedy interaction about Buffy's new powers. That said, I'm not sure what the Bander shippers would be feeling now, seeing as how the most promising signs of them getting together have fizzled out to nothing. Again. I agree with you about those parts of WatG. But the problem for me, besides the utter lunacy of MechaDawn, is the fact that Renee has never been brought up again. So now Xander has had two current lovers die on him but we have yet to see any sort of story about him dealing with either of their deaths. It's just a wasted opportunity to show something new about a character. It also doesn't help that we saw the Renee/Xander relationship have a natural progression through a dozen issue, whereas now we have Dander without any sort of laying of foundations. It was pretty much one scene of them showing weapons to the slayers and then the next issue Buffy catches them kissing. And since then they've done nothing short of bickering at each other. I'd rate The Chain as a brilliant issue. Just everything about it was awesome. The scene in After These Messages... where Joyce tells Buffy that she can always come home was really good and would have been amazing filmed. The first issue of NFFY was great. Faith having to kill those vamp kids. Her driving the stake into her apartment wall. Also the Buffy/Faith fight in the pool was awesome. Buffy and Faith's talk in the Retreat arc was great. The Buffy/FDW/Willow in ToYL was good, but again it annoys me that nothing more about it seems to have been said. And we were meant to get some answers in that arc but all we got were more questions.

Andrew, I agree so much with you about Willow delayed reaction to Buffy killing her, that was a great moment. I felt so bad for poor Willow.
Speaking of Satsu, I really loved when she tossed her lipstick away and told Kennedy there are other flavors, that was a great moment for her.
kaan, Buffy/Xander is the highlight of S8. I fell in love with their relationship so much, and I don't care if they don't get together, I just want them to stay this close 'til the end.
Also, Joyce telling Buffy in After These Messages that she can always come home was a heartbreaking moment.
The last panel in The Chain always breaks my heart.

Sosa Lola, when I can give karma again I'm giving you karma for posting a positive season 8 thread.
Kaan, I agree. I was able to sort of forgive Anya barely being mentioned because it's been a year and a half after her passing, but Renee just died. She should be mentioned every once in a blue moon. Actually, now that Xander is with Dawn, I think Anya should be brought up again. Like maybe Xander wondering how Anya would feel about his relationship with Dawn, or something.
Back to the topic. I found entire issue of "Anywhere but Here" powerful. Particularly the last scene where Willow and Buffy are walking away. Buffy's quote "It's just demons playing games" hits me really hard. She was in so much denial T.T I have more moments, but I gtg. I'll post more later >.<

Sosa Lola, when I can give karma again I'm giving you karma for posting a positive season 8 thread. Thank you! I'm sick of the negativity, so I thought I'd start positive threads in all the forums I joined to spread the happy S8 feelings. Another powerful moment was in #35: Xander while holding an unconscious and wounded Andrew and asking the sky for help: Xander: Buffy..! Warren: She can't hear you. Xander: She can. She always can.

I thought The Chain and Anywhere but Here were pretty powerful. Moments in Faith's arc were good too.
I don't agree about Renee's death. I thought it was lame. The gruesome panels were funny, and I found myself dragged out of the moment and adding to the "Tragic Xander Romance" scorecard.

I loved that the last fewpanels of this arc with the paralell plotlines of the desire for warmth, were very touching
