Now would be a perfect time for Riley to show up again, what with the army being out for Buffy and all... It would be really cool if they sent Riley to assassinate Buffy or something like that.

Having just watched Season Four's 'A New Man', I'm starting to wonder whether we've seen the last of Ethan Rayne, or whether his involvement wasn't something to do with Twilight; in the same episode, Ethan refers to 'the time of magic', in reference to himself and Giles being mystics. I wonder whether this season doesn't have a stronger connection to Season Four than just the reappearance of the military / government. Um...didn't Ethan die? At least he did in the issue #4 that I got.

The only person...at least that I can remember that has really come back from the dead is Buffy herself. I mean they might use him more, I was shocked that Joss killed him off, I would have liked him to be used a little more before his death...I just don't see him coming back...but if Joss wants it, I'll support it.

Well, Angel himself was brought back from hell, Warren "died" and was brought back, and [don't shun me] although I don't follow Angel, I know more than a few have been brought back there.
I love all this talk of parallels between S4 and S8. Oh if only Giles would just learn to be straight with Buffy...

That is true, Angel did come back from Hell...but technically he never died, he was sucked into hell body and all. Spike did die and come back, so I do have to revise my original statement. We might also see Wesley and Fred come back to life in After the Fall...but we won't know that for sure until it happens.
Joss also wanted to bring Tara back through a wish that Buffy makes but was unable to get Amber Benson back.
Okay, I've been had...but really the only other one we really have in cannon is Spike. Fred is still Illyria and Wes is still a ghost.

It could be said that Spike didn't die either as he came out of the amulet. I always figured he got trapped there.
Darla was ressurected.
Ethan seemed pretty dead though. I know it doesn't mean it's a forever deal but still. It was quite a surprise. I'm sure you'll learn more about his part in the story.

I thought about that for Spike as well. Good catch on Darla, She really is the only one that was ressurected besides Buffy herself.

You're right, Jinxieman, Darla and Buffy were the only two to come back from true death, although Joss seems to redefine true death, lol. I kinda feel sorry for Ethan. He pulls a prank of Giles, gets sent to a military cell for (what, 4?) years, and then gets a bullet in the ol' noggen. Sad puppies. I wonder what else he was able to do from that cell.

I felt sorry for Ethan at the time, but his intentions were still suspect because he knew that Twilight had plans to destroy him along with Buffy because he sees them on the same side. So interesting.. kinda wish he didn't have to die. Owh! and cool pick there about the Twilight Compendium
