I was thinking about all the different friendship circles I've had over the years and thinking about the sort of people I gravitate towards and it made me wonder what everyone's current friendship circle is like. Do you hang out with people who are similar to you, who have the same interests? Are you drawn to people who have been through similar experiences to you?
My best friend is my polar opposite. She's quiet, contained, reserved and calm. I, on the other hand, am loud, constantly spilling out every thought in my head and wear my heart on my sleeve. She's never lived out of home, I moved out when I was seventeen. She's never had to deal with anything dark or traumatising and I have. We work though, because we have similar interests, the same sense of humour and we just understand each other. Plus we've known each other since we were twelve.
My other close friends are all slightly damaged in some way. They've been through rough relationships, broken families, young pregnancies, etc. I think I'm drawn to them because I am extremely damaged from past experiences and I think we see all that in each other and are drawn to each other because of that. We have some similar interests and we share the same humour and sense of fun but I think it's the life-experiences that have bonded us.

"You and me at Comic Con next year. It's happening, Cameron. It's happening. We might even take Katie with us." "AND OH MY GOD I WANT A RED SHIRT vs. BROWN SHIRT SHIRT SO MUCH. HAVE YOU SEEN THEM?" "Rather, RED SHIRT vs. BROWN COAT shirt. I got a little excited with the shirts, there." ^^^These are a collected set of comments that my bestest friend foreverest recently posted on my Facebook status about ComicCon. She and I are of a kind. Not all of my friends are like this (obviously, or else this girl wouldn't be my only bestest friend foreverest), but we bond through shared experiences like Joss, opera/musicals, Powerpuff Girls and other various cartoons, etc etc. Drama geeks and TV freaks and I love them all.

My friends are a varied and crazy bunch!! I have friends I have had since childhood and college who I don't see much but talk too a lot and treasure. I have friends I have met through work who I see all the time. They vary from academic teachers of philosophy with PhDs, ladies who love cocktails and clothes, geeks who have dungeons and dragons style gaming nights, and other assorted peeps. I have fun with them all, either together or as a group, from cinema trips to clubbing to bbqs. My oldest friend I have known since I was born as his parents and my parents are friends. We grew up together, spent holidays together, we even went to New York together when we were 17 and 18. I speak to him all the time and although we have very little in common I love and adore him and am so honoured to have had him in my life for so long. My closest girlfriend is so similar to me, but so different at the same time. Emotionally we are the same and have been through the same things, but we are into completely different music, style, places to hang out, tv shows, hobbies etc. My closest male friend is emotionally very different to me but we have a lot in common. I feel completely relaxed with him and we used to spend hours together just hanging out before he moved away. I love having so many varied and different friends to hang out with. I have different friends for different occassions but can also do things with all of them as a group. One of my friends once said that I have a unique ability to bring together people from all backgrounds and walks of life who would never usually cross paths and they just fall together and have a great time and make friends they never usually would have done

My two best friends (the ones who come round to watch Buffy with me) are quite dark in character, though one is rather sadistic and the other can't bear to see other people in pain (unless it's funny apparently!). We have very simelar music tastes, rock and metal generally, and tend to like the same sorts of tv/films. Interestingly the more sadistic friend is great with people, everyone automatically loves her, not in a slut way, more in a kindly grandmother way (it's the way she describes herself... She even likes to bake things for people!). The other is very quiet, which some people find unnerving, though others like it because it means they can complain at her about their lives and she'll listen.
When I'm not with them I have another friend who is very unlike me, she likes completely different things, she's the sort of person who likes whatever tv/film/music is popular at the moment. But she's not boring, we're completely crazy together, we love to freak people out in various ways. We sometimes go into town and see how many people's hair we can stroke without them noticing. We also love to see the look on people's faces when we tell them we're sisters (She's black and south african, I'm white and very english!), we told a policewoman that once and she said 'oh! Do you live in a home?' lol! I think she thought we were orphans or something.
I'm not so close with my other friends as I'm off to uni soon and I doubt I'll be able to say in contact with anyone other than my closest friends.

Well, honestly, I don't have very many friends and the ones I do have, I don't see, as they don't exactly live nearby. Plus, I'm not one for hanging out. The closest female friend I have (actually, most of my friends are girls and I don't have a close male friend), I have known her since I was six (she's a year old than me), but we hated each other for 10 years. Now, for the last six years, we have been really good friends and she's the only one I feel comfortable in confiding to. The last time we really talked was for about five hours and it only ended cuz I had to go home. But to me, she's my closest best friend
