This whole series was mediocre. Great art, underwhelming story/character development. Would've been an okay episode, but not really worth following for 5 months. I wish I'd waited for the HC. I'm happy I waited then  ... It'll be fun to read in one sitting, just not world-shattering. I'm annoyed there isn't more of a bridge between this and Angel #28. With the 500 Angel books IDW releases a month, you'd think one of them could address how Gunn and Illyria reconcile with Angel Investigations. I mean, they did kill a bunch of them. |

So we last see Gunn and Illyria in Only Human#5 then we see them again in #28 like nothing happened? maybe IDW doesn't think of them in the same continuity lol.

"like nothing happened" isn't very accurate. Some time has passed between #27 and #28, so we just weren't shown Gunn and Illyria returning to the team. |

I finally got my hands on this today and I gotta say this was rather anti climactic. The idea behind this whole arc seemed really good to me and I'm not at all saying it ended badly..but it would have been more enjoyable if the ending was a little less ambiguous.

Just went over this issue again...
I really, really love it, actually. Gunn tricking the Scourge was brilliant. Illyria's scenes with Baticus were great, IMO. "And yet here you are, daring again... Bad pet." Love it. And, "It... I... am only human."
People were wondering about why Baticus couldn't control Illyria's power... My belief: Is that only Illyria could. Period. She ruled the world, and was all mighty in her Old One form. Only she(it) could control those abilities, because they were only made for (she)it.
Also, the one negative thing I found about this issue was:
The ending was a bit confusing. For me, at least. I take it Gunn went back, and murdered those demons? But let the young one survive, and took him back to LA? It wasn't too clear on whether he killed them all. But showed him burning the barn... Could someone confirm if I'm right here? xD
But, yeah... Overall, I love this issue.
