Hi! I'm Jacquie, I am new here. So, let me introduce myself. Last October I was bored at my friend Meaghans house and she decided that it was about time that she introduce me to Buffy the vampire slayer. I was reluctant because for some reason I had it in my head that Buffy was a "stupid show" that I would never be able to enjoy. In high school, most of my friends had all been obsessed with it, and I would make bitchy comments about it, and continue on with my day. But really the only things I had heard about the show was that there were lesbians, that Faith and Anya are awesome, (I thought they were the lesbians.), spike is hot, and that, "His penis got diseases from a chumash tribe." Mostly because these were the things that each of my Buffy obsessed friends were fixated on. Looking back at that, how horrible of me to judge without knowing anything about it?
Anyways, I was bored so I agreed to watch it. That first night we watched the first four episodes, and I thought "hey this isn't bad at all." So once a week I started going over to Meaghans house so watch a couple of episodes. All the while she kept telling me that it gets infinitely better halfway through the second season. So I watched all the way up until "passion" at Meaghans house. At that point I was hooked. I looked at Meaghan at the end of that episode and said... after a few frantic "OH MY GOD!"s "I need to take this home with me." So I stayed up til four in the morning finishing up the second season, which lead to a miserable half asleep work day a few hours later (worth it!) So I called Meaghan from work. "I need season three"
"you finished season two already?"
"yep, and I NEEEED, season three right now, can I pick it up after work?"
" Sure."
So I drove to her house and picked up the third season and started watching a disk a night. It was December at this point and I'm in college, and I was working overtime because thats is what you do in December when you work retail (I work in the backroom though, so sadly, I do not get to "fondle the money"). So I spent all of my free time watching Buffy, which is less sad than you would think because everyone else that I know was also busy with work and finals. And yes, the only free time I had really was just enough time to watch a disk (or sometimes less)a night. Anyways I absolutely loved season three, so when I was done, I called Meaghan immeadiately, but she did not pick up, So in my odd state of obsession I decided I would just go out and buy season four. Luckily she called me back right before I was about to walk out the door, and agreed to lend me season four. She said it was the best season, so I was excited. After watching what I thought was a pretty mediocre season, I learned that Meaghan and I have very different tastes in Buffy. I was still highly obsessed though, so she lent me season 5, which I loved, and, followed by season 6 which is my favorite season of them all. Then she let me borrow season 7 which she had not even seen yet, and that I had bought her for christmas, because it was the only season that she didn't have. Season 7 was my least favorite season. I thought they focused too much on the potential slayers who I didn't really have a connection with, and it didn't really grab me. Then Xander lost an eye, and then I tried to watch firefly and kept thinking "That bastard hurt Xander!" I quickly got over that though, because thats crazy talk and yeah. I am now a giant Joss Whedon fan.
Oh yeah the firefly watching came after the Angel watching. After I finished Buffy, I bought Angel season 1 and 2. Season one was alright but I really liked season 2. I then borrowed season 3 from My friend Christina, because Meaghan had never gotten into Angel. I loved that season, she told me that season four is messed up and I was worried, but I liked it alot anyways. I had to wait 2 days in between Angel seasons three and four. I spent these two days annoying everyone I knew about buffy and Angel. Then I did not know anyone who owned Angel season 5 so I ran out and bought it and "Oh man, best Angel season ever!" Then came the firefly, and the doctor horrible, then the borrowing of the Buffy comics and the purchasing of Angel: after the fall. Followed by the selective rewatching of episodes I really enjoyed, and a failed attempt to get Some of my of my other friends into Buffy. I then recieved Buffy seasons 5 and 6 for my birthday, then purchased seasons 1-4, as well as some of the comics and angel season three, as well as firefly, serenity, and dr horrible. I also intend to purchase Buffy season 7 and angel season 4 after I am done saving up for the Buffy event in Boston this October.
When I like a show, I tend to like it way too much. I decided to join these forums so hopefully When I get all obsessive, I don't have to annoy my real life friends, who are currently extremely tired of hearing me talk about Buffy. Seriously, I had this conversation a few days ago,
"You know, Buffy would.."
"Shut up, I am not going to take any advice from you if it involves Buffy in any way."
"awwww"
I can't look at Bunnies anymore without getting that song in my head.
Anyways yeah, sorry for writing this book of an introduction post.
