So I loved this movie, especially the scene with the vegan police, but there was one aspect of the movie that I could not resist asking about on this forum. Did anyone else automatically think of the evil league of evil as soon as they started mentioning the evil league of exes? I was reminded of it once and could not stop thinking of Dr. Horrible for the whole movie. I kept thinking, "Wouldn't it be awesome if her last ex was bad horse?" Completely aware of the fact that I am a giant freak and this may only be me, but it was an awesome thought.

This is just an incredible movie. Like two hours of pure geekgasm and I loved every second of it. It's hilarious but surprisingly heartfelt at times. I wasn't looking forward to it because I'm so sick of Michael Cera, but he didn't detract from the movie at all. The entire cast was brilliant. Can't get the soundtrack out of my head either. The movie is up there with Inception and Toy Story 3 as the best so far this year. Everyone should see it.

"WE ARE SEX BOB-OMB!! ONE TWO THREE FOUR *rock music*"
Could not have asked for a better way to open the film. And it was really awesome. Gotta give it up for Allison Pill as Kim Pine, though.
"Scott, if your life had a face, I would punch it. I would punch your life in the face."
The ending was great, which makes me curious as to how the graphic novels ended. I've only read up through Scott Pilgrim & The Infinite Sadness, so I dunno. (As stated in the Riley one-shot thread, my comic shop is currently in disrepair since he's moving to a new location and won't be open for a while. So I won't be able to catch up for a while. *sad-face*)
AND WALLACE!! Still one of the best gay characters in fiction. Love him!

Yeah I usually dislike Michael Cera enough to avoid seeing his movies, but he was considerably less annoying in this, and I actually liked his character. Hooray for a movies whos awesomeness completely overshadows the fact that it stars Michael Cera! Wallace and Kim were my favorite characters overall though.

I can't believe this movie has even gotten any good reviews. My problems are many.
1) The name for a band, Sex Bob-Omb, is just plain stupid 2) Dating a girl named Knives? With a nickname like that, it should tell you something. 3) And a last name of Flowers? What the hell is that about? 4) I don't think the girl playing Ramona is a good actress, nor is Michaela Cera a good actor. 5) And a dude dissolving into coins? What. The. Hell. 6) And ANOTHER stupid band name? The Clash of the Demonhead?
I cannot believe that this film got good reviews from ANYONE. But I respect that everyone has their different opinions.

Why would they make you cry? How can you view those things as problems? "Sex Bob-Omb"? That's awesome!

Well...The name is just so...ugh. And when a dude dissolves into coins; that's pretty cheesy, is it not?

Not cheesy at all. This movie is a homage to video games, its culture and the influence on pop culture that they've had over the last few decades.
If you think of it as a live action video game, then none of the things you listed are weird at all (a Bob-Omb is a villain from Super Mario Bros., for example).
And I know someone with the last name Flowers...

I highly suggest finishing the graphic novels; the ending is similar but there is a "sub-plot" of sorts that is left out. I won't ruin it for you since it sounds like you will be reading the books in the future.

Here ya go ^^^^ Basically Gideon also has a group of "Exes" that he has cryogenically frozen. They will stay frozen until they will go out wit him. He wants Ramona to join them. Besides that part, the series as a whole takes some time to develop the supporting cast more. The movie shoves 6 Graphic Novels into one movie, but it does a pretty darn good job of hitting the highlights.

I saw this yesterday, and it was AMAZING. I think my favorite part had to be the fight with Roxy, because it was Mae Whitman (aka Katara's voice actress ). Needless to say, my friends had to hold me down to keep me from having a total spaz-fest. The soundtrack was also fantastic, and I needneedneed to buy it now.

I just got back from seeing it a second time. I was able to appreciate a lot of the visual nuances more this time around. Edgar Wright really understands how to bring both comic books AND video games to film. This one's a winner!

Another weird question: When Scotts ex was singing on stage with the black dress and the pig tails did anyone else think that she looked like she was cosplaying Misa Amane from Death note?

I LOVED it! It was so random! The way my friend described it was 'do you think it's one of those films you don;t fully get 'til the second time round? 'cos I've seen it twice and I don't get much of it...' lol. But yeah I loved it, I loved the way it was less of a film and more of a dramatised game sort of thing.
Btw Gideon reminded me of Wyatt in Josie and the Pussycats, anyone else get that?

I saw this movie in the theater a super long time ago (for free and before it came out cuz I gots connections like that, holla! ;D), but for some reason I'm just now seeing this thread. I think it's an awesome movie and anyone who hasn't read the comics really should! It's all the same awesomeness of the movie, but better because there's more depth and it has one of my favorite characters who doesn't show up in the movie <3 Go read them! Doo it!
Also, if you don't play video games, Scott Pilgrim might be confusing, but if you love video games then you'll most definitely love it.
