So this question has been stuck in my head all day long, and I've asked everyone that I came in contact with today. personally I hate the sound of my own voice. I think it's too high pitched and nasally. Out of the other people I asked, one loved thier voice, Two thought thier voices were ok sounding and two hated thier own voices. I'm just curious, I find this kind of thing interesting.

It depends... when I change my voice up for voice acting (which is when I usually hear it) I tend to like my voice, because I'm in full control of how it sounds.
But my natural voice, not so much.

That's interesting, the friend I asked who voice acts said pretty much the same thing.

good god i HATE my voice. when i hear it on a recording or something i freak out and say like "OMG. i don't really sound like that do i?!?!" That's another reason why i like talking online better, no speaking involved.

^^Hahahaha that is exactly like me PJ with the hearing back a recording!! I really don't like my own voice which is odd given how much I love talking...Sometimes when I am talking I can suddenly 'hear' my own voice properly, if that makes sense, and it makes me shut up real quick

It depends. My mom is from New York so her accent king of got to me. I was born in South Carolina so I have some of that in there, but I was pretty much raised Kentucky. In Kentucky they say I have a different accent. In South Carolina they say I sound like a hick and the same for New York. I think between the three I ended up getting some weird ass accent. Did you get all of that? Anyway I definitely hate the sound of my voice on tv.

My voice is incredibly high pitched and squeaky. So I hate it.

I hate my voice, but oddly enough some females have described it as "sexy". I don't get it.

My voice is so manly. I guess that's better than it being to high, and ridicolously girl-ish, considering my weight.
I often hate/dislike how I sound on tape.

I agree with you, WhiteCandy. Whenever I am speaking, my voice sounds a little deeper. But when I hear it on recording, it sounds really weird. I'm not sure how to describe it. I'll find a recording of my voice and then attach it to a post later.

When I hear my voice on a recording, I hate it as well. It kinda sounds like I put no emotion to it and it's a little deep. My voice when I'm being "cheerful" sounds okay though.

I don't like the sound of my voice, but come to think of it, I don't know anybody who likes the sound of their voice. Although, when I have a bad cold, I actually like the way it sounds more. More gravelly and sultry. But on any other normal day it's probably too sweet sounding, kinda high. And when it's on tape, I'm like, "Who is that person?" I actually cringe a little...

That's a really interesting question. I've always hated the sound of my voice on a recording. I hate listening to my own voice, I've never liked it. I don't sound like I think I sound like. lol. Kind of an average voice, at least I think so. Whenever I hear my voice on a recording I cringe a bit. I never thought that other people felt the same way about their own voices.

Whenever I hear my voice on a recording I cringe a bit. I never thought that other people felt the same way about their own voices. Yeah, I cringe too! What's that about? In my head, I hear my voice sounding deeper than what other people must hear. I feel like I don't recognize myself.

I like my voices. I say voices because I do different voices when I get bored or to entertain my friends.

I wonder... To the people who say that they hate thier own voice, Have other people told you that they find your voice at all irritating or is it just you? I'm just wondering if this comes from hearing the difference between what we sound like in our heads vs what we sound like to others and feeling annoyed that it's different, cause in some cases I'm thinking it might be because others have told them that their voice is annoying and they just went by that.
For me, people used to tell me when I was younger that my voice was kind of annoying, but of course I grew up and my voice is older sounding now and I am told that it is no longer annoying, but when I hear it played back to me I still find it annoyingly high pitched and nasally.

^^ No one complains about my voice, never. Just that I talk fast or don't articulate well, but that probably has nothing to do with my voice.
Me disliking my voice has to do with that I simply want a prettier voice, and always get surpised that I sound so far from my ideal. Even my annoying mental voice sounds better. Of course, maybe with better voice recording, and a more relaxed attitude when recording, I would sound better.

Everybody tells me my voice is really high and girly and I sound really young when I hear myself played back. But that has it's advantages; I've only once been charged adult (15 years and over) fare at the cinema or on my local bus! So overall I quite like my voice. Nothing wrong with sounding naive and perky as long as you're a bit deeper than that on the inside I figure.

Ahh, this pretty much describes exactly how I feel. My natural voices varies from freakishly high to low-medium depending on mood, and I can't stand that I can't keep it consistent. :/ I also don't like my tendency to speak like a valleygirl, butyeah.

Completely agree with this. I like my voice in voice overs, but on the family videos I think I sound like hell.
