I don't like it. I think I know how I sound, then I hear a recording.

I tend to think my voice is rather average sounding.
However I've been told by a few people that my voice is like a bedroom voice and a few of my girl friends told me they want a voice like mine. It's kind of husky and deep.

I'm surprised that most of the SlayAlivers who participated in the poll said they hate their voice; my previous posts said that I hate my voice and that is still true. But I decided to add that I hate my voice so much that whenever I play karaoke I turn up the music so loud that I could practically scream inside the microphone and you wouldn't hear my voice at all...

I'm just not used to hearing it on recordings I guess. It always sounds higher and kind of tinnier, and it freaks me out a bit.

I have a problem hearing my own voice, I have some hearing loss from some chemo therapy a long long long time ago. I have always had this hearing problem so everyone sounds different in my head when I hear anyone's voice on an answering machine or a recorder it sounds weird to me... mine i especialy hate... people tell me my voice is husky and sultry... i think it just sounds like a deaf kid trying to talk...

I don't mind the spoken side too much, but my singing voice is bad enough to be used to scare the crows.

Reason you sound different on a recording: bone conduction. Basically, sound is amplified through the bones in your skull, which makes you sound different than when you record yourself (because when you listen to a recording of yourself, you're actually hearing what other people hear when they talk to you). I know this and yet I'm always surprised when I hear myself on recording. MY BRAIN AM FULL
