Loved her from the beginning of Season 5. She was overall non-chillant about everything, and I think that's something Buffy really needed to have for a big bad. I mean, with the death of her mom, the various things going on in her life, with the added element of Glory that could honestly care less, really made me love Glory.
Her hair, always looking fabulous, (even when she yanks it out) was another element I loved about Glory. She was like Buffy, and at the same time, a huge challenge for Buffy as well. She was edgy. Young (in human form), cared about her appearance (as we all do), and still kicked ass.
She's quoteable to the maximum, which I also appreciate. "Hands off my holy man!" "Shi-" "I need a BRAIN, you worthless dirt." to name a few.
I haven't seen much Glory love on the forums yet. Hopefully there's others that love the woman in red as much as I do?

I agree, Glory was one of my favorite big bads. Her and the Mayor were kind of similar in that they both didn't have the garden variety "Argh. I'm evil i want to eat your face! Grr!"-personality. I think what made the Initiative arc so weak was that the big bad organization was totally dry, there wasn't any depth or humor to any of the characters. I find it much more frightening that a character like Glory can be having a bubble bath and ordering a mamosa one day and sucking the brain out of Tara the next, the carelessness and spontaneity of it really made her a special kind of evil.
The fact that she's equal parts fabulous and skitzo also helped.

Yes, a careless big bad is the best kind. You are very right on the combination of skitzo and fabulous. I mean, who wouldn't love a big bad blonde with a knack for killing vampire slayers while rocking a nice red ensemble?

I'm rewatching season 5 right now, I agree, Glory is the best bad. I think she actually represents a familiar though not often seen sort of person, the kind who lives in a bubble, physically present but not really there. Am I clear at all? How do you feel when you see a celebrity in the flesh? Imagine a movie star or a big politician walking through a neighborhood surrounded by aids and bodyguards. I've seen both Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama walk past me like that, and I may as well have been a cockroach hiding in the wall. But I've also been the one inside the bubble, in a small way. How do you feel when you're traveling in a poor country, maybe carrying a camera around your neck, the price of which would represent three months wages for the people around you? You do feel that you come from another dimension, that your life is elsewhere.

I'm in complete agreement. I'm rewatching season 5 as well! I went to see Lady GaGa in concert last month, and quite honestly, I was surrounded by a ridiculous amount of people, and yet I felt like she was the only one in the room, with such presence. Not saying Lady GaGa matches the evil power of Glory by any means, but it was quite apparent that Glory shared a quality of simple presence that was ridiculously powerful on (and off) camera.
Your metaphors are oddly understandable in my book. I'm understanding them completely. I enjoy this.
