Someone gave me advice on how to fix my ipod in the What's up thread, and I saved the page, but now I can't find it (could be because it was moved/copied). It was something about pressing a button that solves most ipod problems.
I'm hoping that member will repeat the advice, or someone out there know what I'm talking about.

And Slut (I still feel weird calling you that) I don't know if you've tried this but if you hold down the middle button and top emnu button on an ipod at the same time until an apple appears on the screen that's sorts out a load of random problems with it. I thought mine was lost forever before I tried that. If you bought it less that a year ago then they owe youa replacement (they sent me sister the biggest, top-of-the-range video-playing one to make up for her tiny nano breaking). If not I can only suggest doing as I did last year- ask for one for Christmas and put music on your phone if you can until then. Or steal money from your evil twin to pay for one. Three good ideas (it was too long since I bought it). I think I'll go with the button pressing first. Then I'll buy a mp3. Can't ask my family to buy me something that expensive anymore. I'm all grow up and stuff. I guess I could ask everyone to chip in tough. Or, you know, steal from my lesser twin. this one?

Thank you sweetie. That's the one. Now to see if it works.

I think I got it to work. I'll try using it again tomorrow and we'll see if it will still mess with me.

Don't worry, I have it all in my itunes library anyway.
-EDIT
It worked a minute ago(but I noticed that the battery was low, even tough it had only been used a few minutes yesterday, and I think I fully charged it before that), but then I used the lock-button at the bottom, and when I unlocked, it wouldn't start.
Same problem as before. Maybe I just shouldn't use the lock-thing and see if thet works, but I think I'll be getting a very cheap mp3 player next month.
-EDIT
I re-set it using Billie Erin's advice again, and now the powerbar was very low. I'm starting to think that I will need to change the battery to get it working again. It says on the box that I can only recharge it a certain amount of times. If that's why it doesn't work, I'll never buy a Ipod again. I only used it for about a year.

^^^ Technically their life expectancy is unfortunately only a year or so I think Sky. I hope the button thing does fix it properly.

Great advice on the fixing an iPod Bille *karma* I will remember that for when mine plays up next time!
I didn't realise the life expectancy was so low. I have had mine over a year but don't use it all the time so hopefully it will last a bit longer...

God dammit, that sucks. I payed that much for something I can only use a year?
I found a decent mp3 for a decent price tough. I'll buy that soon.

^^^ I think that's a better investment overall Sky, ipods are kind of overpriced and don't get me started on itunes' song prices and "album only" elitism
And thank you Whitecandy! I learnt all I know about ipods from my sister, she's like a computer whiz

I just ordered a "Sandisk MP3 player Radio FM Sansa Clip+ 4 Gb - black" (not sure if that's the proper name).
I hope it's a good one.

Let's boycott them!
They're dangerous anyway. The vids are too easy to distract you when you're out walking, and you could walk into people or something, which means audio is the only solution anyway. So we might as well get a mp3 player.
Speaking off, mine should be in the mail ...

Well I love my iPod. It occasionally glitches and I have to reboot it, but that is very rare.
I currently have two, one I've had for 5 years that still works...although the battery life is very poor and my new one I've had for about year and a half and it's still going strong.

All lithium-ion batteries die after x number of cycles (number of times you recharge your battery to 100%). If you really want something that lasts, an MP3 player that runs on replaceable batteries will work... you'll just have to pay for rechargeables or just be prepared to add "batteries" to your shopping list every few weeks or so.

I had one of those once upon a time. Lasted me all through highschool. Till some jerk threw it out the bus window my senior year.

I just got it! A review says it might be better if I but it to english/american settings to make the sound/volume better (another review complained about the sound). I set it to English/North America, turned it to the loudest and got a head ache. So good volume!
It doesn't actually have 4GB, it as 3,6 but I heard all companies lie, so I'm still glad with what I got. I even have some space left over for now.

I'd say it's more skewering the facts than flat out lying. See, they actually put 4GB of flash memory into the iPod, but part of that goes towards formatting and other software, resulting in only 3.6GB being available for music and such.

^^ They should say that in the adds. Same with speed on broadband or whatever. Stupid tricking false advertising.
@ewr
That's over 2 GB missing! More than half my MP3. That's ridicolous.

^^ They should say that in the adds. Same with speed on broadband or whatever. Stupid tricking false advertising. Well, think of it like sales tax. If they put it on price tags and ads, then it would appear to cost more. You should always just do the math to find out how much something really costs. With data storage devices, such as a hard drive or the flash memory on you MP3 player, you've always just got to remember some space will go towards formatting. @ewr That's over 2 GB missing! More than half my MP3. That's ridicolous. I have a 400GB hard drive in my PS3. After my PS3 formatted it, only about 372GB. That's how much space EWR has on his iPod. Basically, the bigger the storage device, the bigger the loss.

Won't I see what it costs by looking at the label? Do they don't charge sale tax in Sweden? If something costs $10, then about seven or eight percent of that will be charged extra to go towards government. If something costs $10, expect to be charged about $10.70ish at the checkout counter.
