While debating if a reboot of Buffy would suck or not, I started to wonder;
"Would people want a Buffy-reboot movie/show if Joss wrote it? It could be a similar story as the one he telling now, or just using the basics or Buffy's character and/or plot. Would you guys watch it?"
I know I would watch it, but would I be all that excited?
What do you think?

I love Buffy more in live action than i do in comic book form....a huge reason why that is is because of the cast members who can truly encompass the characters that we know and love. If Joss did a re-boot without any or only some original cast members from the show, it wouldn't be the same IMO. So I would watch and be excited for it IF they continue with the story they're telling now and ALL the cast members agree to be on board.
A Joss re-boot is a nice thought to ponder....but highly unlikely to say the least.

i think if Joss did something like that, and all the cast would be up for it, it would be EPIC. I would love to see a Season 8 movie though not a show just because of the fact that Joss would probably have more funding and time with making a movie rather then a show with low budgets and the idea it may get canceled. Plus with the movie we would probably see way cooler effects and graphics with having more money!

I would certainly love a new Buffyverse series or movie (I think its a bit too soon to do a Buffy movie reboot, unless its a continuation which has other problems), but not a re-boot of Buffy itself of course. Simply because it would be hard to get the old gang back together. There are also more critical issues though. Like most of those characters had stopped developing by the end of Season 5-6 so I'm not sure they could be in the limelight again as interestingly as they were originally. This would affect any attempt at making a movie too.
What would be great is a new series set in the same verse, with the old gang dropping in every now and then, for one offs or perhaps even big arcs. That way we get so see whats happened to them, but it isn't too demanding on the actors. It would also give the series a new set of themes which will keep it fresh. Ultimately though, anything like this depends on how much creativity Joss can muster. If he can get enough he can do anything.

Maybe this should be in the unpopular rants thread but ...
I think it would be a mistake to reboot Buffy. What we need is more stories in the same universe. We need new Slayers with new Watchers and new friends.

I think the best way to do it would be a movie, revisting in the gang, now. As in 10 years after the events of 'Chosen'. So they'd all be roughly 30. I guess you might not have to retcon everything that happens in the comics if you set it fair enough in the future? You could have a Lord of the Rings-esque prologue (narrated by Giles of course) to catch you up to speed. It would be a good way to introduce new fans and tell new stories. Buffy was about growing up and coming into adulthood. The film could highlight more adult issues. Marriage, children etc... all whilst stopping the end of the world of course

I like sire's comments. I like that idea. A Buffy based on what they are doing now. Where are Xander and Willow in 2010? Did Buffy ever find a normal life and true love? Is Giles retired? What are the other slayers doing? That would be fascinating to say the least.

I think it would be interesting to see a reboot, but not now, I just think it's too fresh still in my opinion. I think it would be interesting to see a focus on a new character and have the old gang drop in to impart their wisdom on the younger generation.

Buffy had a wonderful run, but it is over. The bastard step-child of an 8th season is proof enough that it should rest, and I have no interest in a reboot.

Judging from Season 8, and what we hear about season 9, it looks like Joss intends to put a stake through Buffy's heart. Unless we want to storm the barricades and tear down the "castle of canon," as I personally think we should but I'm in a minority, the best chance we have is in Fray's universe. How about a Fray movie?

I don't think Buffy should be rebooted, but I like the idea of another show taking place in the same world.

I personally feel like the television series ended perfectly and should not be revisited as much as I love it. I wouldn't want to risk it being ruined/having the effect wear off.
I do love Season 8 because I love knowing what the characters are doing, but I wouldn't want a TV series to be revisited. And I'd only want a movie if they weren't going to ignore the comics. A lot of people have issues with it, but they are canon and I'd be annoyed if they suddenly lost their canon status.

I think most people are happy with the way the series ended, but if I know Hollywood, at some point down the road that is the future they probably will reboot it. Whether it's a tv series or a movie I don't know but it will probably happen at some point.

Beieve me, They will eventually reboot it, and ruin it . I think it will be a long time from now though. Maybe we'll even be too old too care, I see only one way to stop it. We will have to force our children to become Buffy fans so they can stop the reboot when it comes out, we will create the most glorious army of fans ever!!!(yes, I'm kidding, don't worry, I'm not insane, I'm a house) I do think a Fray Movie would be cool though, but only if Joss would whrite it.

I would watch it, but I am afraid I would judge it to harshly because I hold Buffy at such a high standard.
