Which Buffy do you identify with more?

Season 1-3, romantic, somewhat vulnerable, lovestruck Buffy?

Or Season 4-7, cynical, distant, burned-by-love-too-many-times, intentionally isolated Buffy?

I have to admit it's the second one that resonates with me more.

Not sure what that says about my psyche...

If I had of answered this ten years ago, I would have said season 1-3 Buffy. Now I would have to say season 4-7 Buffy. Seen too much, felt too much, hurt too much. In a good place but I am still sceptical and waiting for disaster to strike at any time.

I would say season six Buffy. With the whole life is the enemy thing, not knowing why I'm still alive, all that stuff.

I think I am season 4... cautious but always on the look out. (even though i am married)

I actually think it's really hard to lump 4-7 together. In season 4 I think she still has a lot of traces of who she is romantically in the first 3 seasons what with trusting Parker and then her relationship with Riley. Season 5 and 7 I would easily group together (even though she has clearly grown more mature in Season 7 than she was in Season 5), but six obviously not for clear reasons of how down she is that season.

I would have to say, probably season 6, not knowing what your life, your being alive is all about, feeling lost and detached from the world. Feeling as though life is constantly screwing you over

I think it's hard to say which "Buffy" I identify with the most. I know it's not really seasons 1-3 Buffy anymore, because I have long moved past that phase in my life and am in a very different place now. I still enjoy seasons 1-3 Buffy though, for the nostalgic feelings it brings me. If I had to choose, I would probably say I identify most with seasons 5-7 Buffy. In S5 when she is just beginning to take on more responsibility in life, becoming a mother to her sister, etc., and especially S7 when she becomes mentor, teacher, mother figure, not only to Dawn but to a bunch of other girls as well. Yep. I would say that is pretty much where I am in life right now, feeling the pull of that "maternal instinct," or what have you. Although, I admit there are more than a few days when I still feel like Buffy in S6, wondering where my life is going, etc.

I don't think Buffy has reached the place where I am, because then we'd see a Buffy who had forgotten how to slay and instead just surfs the internet and holds down her job. *laugh*

I so thought I was gonna save the world when I was younger. *sad sigh* I thought I'd be all activist-y and doing stuff that helped more people than my family.

But of all the Buffy's, I guess somewhere in season 6 is the closet she comes to "I'm not behaving like the person I thought I was or wanted to be".

Season 6 Buffy, definitely. She's the most complex. She has the most questions to ask, the most to teach.
