I'm really surprised that anyone would stop reading just because of Buffy and Satsu hooking up. I can't imagine just not ordering the comic! I will always want to see what's coming next!

Oh, Season 8 has been a process of sorting through fans of the televised seasons the whole time -- some jumped off because Giant Dawn was just too much, some jumped off because Giles and Buffy don't like each other again, and some are jumping off now.
But that was always true on television, too -- audiences change. Particularly, they get smaller.
Only two things that I think could really charge *huge* segments out of the audience at this point, though. One would be if sexuality in *general* turns into the same sort of punchline, everybody-has-sex-with-everybody-gender-notwithstanding pretense that you usually only seen in porn movies. The other would be if one of the major, established characters -- the Season Oners plus Faith and Dawn -- were to get killed off. While I do think people trust Joss' story, and accept that Joss gives them what "they need" (or, at times, what he thought they needed), this is a pay-go medium, where people have to choose every month to put cashy money on buying the next issue. It's a much dicier proposition to kick the audience in their emotional teeth on a regular basis in a comic than on TV.

No. I do not want it to die. While I have not read that particular issue, I have heard about the incident. I do not think that was essential to the storyline, it is not something that will cause me to hate the Buffyverse.

I dont want it to ever Die, i want it to continue forever a few bad plot lines wont make it fall, Joss will always give us characters we care about Except Parker, who i saw on one of your banners, I hope Parker gets fed off by vampires, bitch slapped by 1800 slayers and left to be eaten by an angry, hungry Oz Keep the verse going Mr WheDon

Anyone's better than Riley. No, seriously, full stock support for Joss. I know he's got to be going somewhere with this.

I am perfectly happy with everything Season 8 has thrown our way so far, so no, I don't think the Buffyverse should die.

I want to see where it goes before I make any hasty decisions about the comics. As for the Buffyverse, I would *never* forsake it for anything. There have always been rough patches, but things have smoothed out well in the past, right?

If the next issue was a paper napkin with the words "Joss Whedon" messily scrawled on it in crayon, I would still buy it.

^ In Crayon? I'd buy two. Well, you'd have to keep one in pristine condition to sell on ebay in five years time. All joking aside, I think most Buffy fans would buy - and buy into - anything Joss put out, regardless of it's quality. The complete lack of any ability to be critical is one of the things I most dislike about this fandom. MB x

Fans get critical of some storylines, sure, but why MUST we be critical of a story we love? This is made for enjoyment and we want to enjoy ourselves, not get cranky and critic-y. We're just people with hard lives, and we want a moment of fun while reading for our fave author. Getting critical and cranky is pointless to me, anyway. God knows there are some storylines on BtVS I didn't enjoy, but I like to focus more on what I enjoyed.

i'm not that into batsu, as you already know lol, but i'd rather get over it and pretend it never happened rather than letting the buffyverse go dead.

Anyone who is willing to stop buying the comics and stop supporting the 'verse because of an incident (that hasn't even been explained through Buffy yet)... Those people who are willing to call it quits, I don't see how they could have ever called themselves true fans. No way.

Every fandom does that. It's what makes them FANS. I mean, I'm a bit of a Star Wars fan. I put up with the last few movies. Nothing Joss has ever done even COMPARES to that.

weeeell, not to start another fight, but episode 1 could easily be beaten by Buffy season 6. but since we're talking different media, you cant possibly compare them.

not no but HELL NO!!!!!!!!
Sorry I see too many possibilities to bring the Buffyverse back to the small screen 2 possible spinoffs (Spike or Faith) JOss has always said he would love to do a tv movie or big screen version like it should been the first time around. SMG and David Boreanaz both said they would be willing to return if it was a Big Screen movie

I HATE Jake Loyd with much burning passion and I actually mostly liked season 6, but you've definetely got a point.

Seriously, I don't get what the big deal is either way. But Joss said nothing was going to come from it so the people who do think it's an issue shouldn't worry. It's going to be really irritating though if sales drop just because of one small thing.
