All of the charcaters in the show were excellently developed over a period of time and given lines unique to that character. Some of the lines were serious, about life, vampires and demons but a lot of them were just plain silly and funny. I was wondering what everyone's favourite lines were and from which character. My problem is that I have a terrible problem which show I heard them (age I guess ) but here's one of my all time Cordy funnies. Giles has just come around from being knocked senseless and Cordy says: "One of these days you'll wake up in a coma!"

There are so many that come to mind but I'll name a few.
Some of my favs..,
Snyder on Graduation Day: "This is a time of celebration, so sit still and be quiet."
During the Scoobie's fight in Yoko Factor Xander tells Buffy:"Just because you're better than us, doesn't mean you can be all superior."
Another is from Spike in Bargaining after he took his time killing a vamp that was choking Giles. Spike says: "Oh, poor Watcher. Did your life pass before your eyes? Cuppa tea, cuppa tea, almost got shagged, cuppa tea?"
Andrew in Empty Places after Faith ate his hotpocket: "See, it's not the hot pocket itself— even though it did have that new-and-improved thicker tomato sauce— it's just the fundamental lack of respect."
Anya playing monopoly with Xander and Dawn: "Can I trade in the children for more cash?"
In Pangs....Spike: Oh! Someone put a stake in me. Xander: You got a lot of volunteers in here.

Imo, the person with the funniest lines had to Spike. All his sarcastic retorts were simply hilarious, though it did get him into trouble sometimes, but it was all part of the fun. Now here's one of Spike's that I remember quite fondly
Buffy: What are you doing here, Spike? Five words or less Spike *counting off his fingers* Out...for...a...walk......bitch

I'm trying to remember if any Buffy moments have ever made me laugh out loud.
I think I did laugh aloud in the Angel episode "Disharmony," at the "We're all clear on the fact that Harmony is a vampire, right?" "Oh my god, I'm so embarrassed! All this time I thought she was a great big lesbo!" scene, probably in large part because of the delightfulness of Aly Hannigan's performance.
BtVS had a lot of funny and quirky lines, but I'm not sure if there were any that just made me laugh aloud. Can anyone else think of any?

There are so many funny moments that I love from Buffy. I really think Giles, Spike and Xander get the best funny lines/moments, although Willow definitely has her moments too. Some of my favourite lines/exchanges:
The Yoko Factor Buffy: Are you drunk?! Giles: (Giggling) Yes, quite a bit, actually.
Giles: (Laughing hysterically) Fort dicks!
(Can't remember which episode) Spike: (Yelling at the TV) Pacey, you blind idiot! Can't you see she doesn't love you?
Buffy Vs. Dracula Xander: Like any of that's enough to stop the great Master (beat) ... bator.
Xander: (In a fake accent) No, we're not going to leave you. And where'd you get that accent, Sesame Street? Vun, Two, Three, three victims, mwah-ha-ha-ha!
Riley: Oh, no, no more chick pit for you!
Gingerbread Willow: A doodle. I do doodle, you too, you do doodle too!
There are tonnes more, but I'll add when I can remember them properly.

I have no clue what eppisodes the following are from! Snyder: There's some things I can just smell, It's like a sixth sense. Giles: Actualy that would be one of the five. and in Angel.. Lorne: Angel, your a man of many limitations andd... Groo: Angel, your coat is singing haha

I do love all the funny lines. Though I think the things I find funnyest are little moments rather than lines. Like the looks on everyone's faces in Tabula Rasa when they open the door and scream at the vampires.
As for lines I would go for the one NL mentioned. And gotta love the doodle line. And just to have my own input to the conversation I'll put a few of my favourite lines (by Spike so I think I'm going to say that Spike probably has the most funny lines) Spike:The bird's dead Dru. You put it in a cage, and you didn't feed it, and now it's all dead.
Spike:A bear! You made a bear! Buffy: I didn't mean to! Spike: Undo it! Undo it!

CORDELIA: I personally don't think it's possible to come up with a crazier plan.
OZ: We attack the Mayor with humus.
CORDELIA: I stand corrected.
OZ: Just trying to keep things in perspective.

I love the part in Earshot where Cordelia's inner voice is exactly what she says aloud...I dunno why but its so funny to me. I love pretty much anything Cordy and Andrew says, they have the most funny lines in my opinion.
Andrew: I'm like Vegeta on Dragon Ball Z. I used to be a pure Sayan, but now I fight on the side of Goku.
I remember the first time I saw that episode I had to rewind cause I couldn't believe they put in a DBZ reference..

^^ I did the same thing. Also that reminds me of another awesome Andrew line.
ANDREW: You're English, right?
SPIKE: Yeah.
ANDREW: I've seen every episode of Doctor Who. Not Red Dwarf, though, 'cause, um...
JONATHAN: 'Cause it's not out yet on DVD.
ANDREW: Right. It's not out on ...DVD.
SPIKE: Warren!!

Another related funny was in 'Storyteller' where he's making a video documentary on the Salyer and spends most ofthe time in the bathroom working on it. And I think it's Anja who shouts something like "Can't you ust masterbate like normal people?"

Andrew:Oh, hey, here’s something I think you’re going to be interested in, gentle viewers. *Zooms in on Willow and Kennedy kissing* Look at the fine work Xander did replacing the window sash. You can’t even tell it’s new, it blends so well. He’s extraordinary.

I have to say one of my favorite Tara lines, probably one of the funniest in season 6 in general is in "Older and Far Away." The scene where Spike corners Buffy in the hallway and Tara sees them; Spike says, "I have a, uh, muscle cramp...Buffy was helping." Tara follows up with, "A muscle cramp? Really? In your...pants?" That was hilarious! And then a few minutes later Tara brings it up again with, "How's that cramp Spike? Still bothering you?...Maybe, you, uh, wanna put some ice on it." Those two lines by Tara are absolutely hysterical, and I crack up every time!

most of what anya says and the way she says it makes me smile. also when buffy mispronounces demon names, it's somehow hilarious to me. like chaka khan, and botox's eye and the buffy-bot had amazing lines, obviously.

I always hated when Buffy did that. Some of them felt so forced to me Overall I think Anya had some of the funniest lines just because some of them were completely WTF and out of nowhere. Willow definitely had her moments too though.

yeah. i understand that some of them seemed forced. like "lets put another running gag thing in there" but to me it's always a reminder of what a valley girl buffy used to be, before all the demon biiizness. thats what i meant about anya. sooo.. otherworldly. it fascinates and confuses me, that all i can do is laugh. it's similar with illyria for me, she says some crazy wtf stuff too. i know this is a buffy thread but yeah... Illyria: You drank a great deal of that poison, you called me a lot of names meant to hurt feelings I no longer have, and then you sat there for hours making noise with your nose. Wesley: I was dreaming, you twit. Illyria: I'd like to keep Spike as my pet. ... i have odd humour i guess.

^Those are my favouritre Illyria lines too! There's just something about someone who used to be a god/demon and now is confined to a human body that makes their lines so funny... (Referring to Anya and Illryis ther incase it wasn't obvious)

Anya definitely takes the cake as the best comedic character.
Possibly my favorite funny line is from Anya in her exchange with Dawn in 'once more, with feeling'
Dawn: Oh my god you will never believe what happened in school today! Buffy: Everybody started singing and dancing? Dawn: I gave birth to a pterodactyl. Anya: Oh my god, did it sing?!
The way Emma Caulfield delivered that line, and Anya being dead serious about it make it so funny!!
Harmony also makes me laugh out loud a lot.
