Frankly I don't think this whole issue is anywhere as big as people are making it out to be. The whole "message" I'm getting out of this is that same-sex relationships are no big deal. I think this is largely the fault of whoever it was that blew it all out of proportions before the issue even came out, telling stores to order extra copies and whatnot.

I don't support Batsu, but I'll fight to the death for your right to see it. I support Joss. This is not my favorite possible pairing, but I'm glad he went there. I kind of wish there was a cannonical gay man in Buffy. I heart you. I don't support Buffy's decision, but I support Joss'. There IS[/b] a difference. Besides, I don't think is was that person's fault. They knew the media would pick up on this, that it would be big news because it is such a hot button topic. Look at our board! It got press on the NY Times and Perez Hilton before I read it, and I preorder!!

Henz, this isnt getting special attention from ME (me, not mutant enemy). I wasn't around for Spuffy. I may have treated it the same way. Look at it this way: Got a letter from Joss? You can get it to him for a limited time.

There are people to afraid to say anything good online because they're in a crowd of haters I think you've got it backwards, I've only heard of 4 people (counting myself) on Slayalive that REALLY didn't like what happened. I KNOW I have to watch whatever I say on this board very closely, and still I had a few people who got kinda angry at me.

But if we want to talk about SlayAlive by itself, the same thing happened with the Angel Interaction Issue 3 messup.

I don't expect everyone to agree with me. I think it was a horrible decision, but I've been invested in these characters for 11 years so I'm not going to just stop reading. I don't think I've noticed anyone being really angry at all? There's a few things in the Buffyverse I'd personally change. And I also don't appreciate being labeled 'closed minded' because I don't just fall in line automatically. I'm sure there's lots of supporters to sign your site though buffysmg ... welcome to cranky world of ships

Batsu kinda' makes sense to me. Buffy's been feeling withdrawn lately, and has had a lot of trouble connecting with people. And who better to connect with than another slayer that kind of understands what she's going through? She's also missed sex, and honestly, with some people, orientation doesn't matter so much when they're in need and their options are limited.
Also, it's really not fair to compare Buffy to Parker. Parker was very manipulative, and willing to say whatever he needed to say to get a roll in the sheets. Buffy on the other hand, was very clear in saying that she's not gay and that she doesn't want a relationship. Satsu knew what she was getting into when she hopped in bed with 'er, and even after the fact, she seems mature enough to realize that not a lot will come of it relationship wise. It's very different from the buffy/parker relationship.
The claims that anyone that doesn't agree with the decision is close-minded are lame, by the way. There are arguments against the development that don't include a deep-seated sense of homophobia.
But I for one, am looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Did Satsu know what she was getting into, really? She seemed genuinely disappointed when Buffy told her "she's not sure it goes any further than that".

I support Whedon's right to write this story. I support Satsu's right to be in love with Buffy. I even support Buffy's right to be able to make a mistake that may lead to hurting a friend.
I don't support Batsu because there is no Batsu to support. This isn't a relationship deal and from the point of view of Buffy (and Joss) it was never going to be. It's a story about allowing the need for closeness and sexual enjoyment get in the way of common sense and leave the other party open for a lot of heartache. The fact that both parties are female is totally besides the point.

Expecially if you are her! Girl's got major issues to work through. Anyway kudos, Koven. *Adds to his Slayer Karma*

There's nothing wrong with Buff doing a little bit of experimenting...it's healthy. Exactly! Is it always fair on the other party? Course not. Is there a chance that this will really hurt Satsu. Definitely. Was Buffy entirely fair in making this choice? Nope. Have I been entirely fair every time I've ended up in bed with a girl I knew felt more for me than I did for her? Again, nope. It's not something to be proud of but it's something that we are all capable of doing. Buffy will have to deal with the consequences, same way we all do, but you can't blame her for being human and allowing a situation to go too far. Still, for Buffy this was just a heat of the moment experience and in no way the opening moments of her coming out party. Trying to justify what she did by creating the "Batsu" relationship is ignoring the reality of the choice Buffy made. Thanks for the kudos and karma, by the way.
