So, I saw this was a hot topic in the S2 DVD thread, and decided to make it's own thread.
Do you think Whiskey survived Epitaph One?
I, personally, think she did not, unfortunately. The odds just really seem against the hopeful fans here. It looks like we'll never know for sure either. I also think it was a great way to leave her character; I mean, the shot of her sitting down, and slowly fading off to 'sleep' is beautiful, and 'Remains' in the background is perfect. (Adding this in, I think Amy Acker should have been saved for the series finale. It would have been great to see her in some form, even if it showed Alpha carrying her corpse. While I think it was a great thread to leave untouched, it would have been nice to have an answer... Plus her role in The Hollow Men wasn't too great, IMO.)
So, discuss.

I have a feeling she died. Alpha found her, cleared her out like he did the butchers. However...I like to fanwank that she was one of the "dolls" under Alpha's watch. We just never got to see her due to her unimportance to the going-onings of the situation.

As much as I like Whiskey I have to think that she died for reasons I listed in the DVD thread.

Although I hate to admit it, I do believe that Whiskey died in Epitaph One. That when she activated the fail-safe inside the Dollhouse, the gas she released upon the Butchers and herself was in fact lethal. Although I missed her in Epitaph Two: The Return, Whiskey did have a beautiful send-off.

i agree with everyone here. Whiskey most likely died from the gas, i mean it looked like all the others were dying too. Even though Whiskey/Claire was my favorite character, i still like that she died like this.....she looked very peaceful. Plus she saved the others lives by sacrificing hers, which was pretty heroic.

Just thought about this:
As far as we are concerned, Whiskey's last words are, "I have to wait here..." And then ironically she goes off, and kills herself. In a way, I think this could support the theory of her surviving the gas; I mean, why contradict your purpose of waiting so many years, even after just stating it once more?
Not that I'm on Team Whiskey Lived, but it sure does make me think. I just think it's very... Sad. Ironic? Odd? Maybe she was finally accepting that she didn't need to wait, and needed to save the others, the ones who still had a chance at living on.

Well the "I have to wait here" could have very well been the reason for her letting the gas kill her. She was following orders or a program and since she was in her simple doll state she didn't want to stray from what she had been told to do. So she sat there because she was supposed to wait and that's why the gas killed her...because she was following her program/orders.
