www.comicmix.com/news/2008/03/24/interview-scott-allie-on-serenity-buffy-and-the-joss-whedon-universe/Talks about Buffy: Season 8, Serenity: Better Days and more. Very interesting stuff. I was just about to start rolling my eyes again at Scott Allie's second near-admission that Buffy/Satsu is Season 6 Buffy/Spike v2.0, and that Buffy really has learned nothing from that experience, but this gives me hope: Scott Allie: My favorite reactions were from people who were just mad at her for once again taking lightly the emotions of another person -- regardless of that person's gender. I think those people understand her the best.I sent him an e-mail just like that, so maybe this matter will be treated as delicately as I was hoping, after all...

Great interview! Thanks for sharing! I'm really looking forward to seeing some things cleared up in the Buffy/Fray crossover.

Thanks for posting! I think I might explode waiting for the Fray arc. Can't wait 'til the variant cover for #16 shows up. I like Allie's comment about--and comparison to--the Xander/Anya relationship. And it's interesting to hear about the letters he's getting complaining that Joss has already done this story before, with Willow, because that's one complaint about it I haven't actually seen too much on the various bboards. I wonder if those same people are also writing in to gripe about Xander/Renee, and ask why Joss is doing that, since he's already done the interracial relationship thing with Fred/Gunn and Zoe/Wash. It's almost impossible to fathom now, but once upon a time (30-40 years ago), something like Fred/Gunn would've been hugely controversial. Now we look at it and say--rightfully so--"no big deal." When "First Date" aired in S7, and Buffy went out with Wood, and Xander with Ashanti, nobody cried 'foul!' and tried to contend that it made no sense, since neither Buffy nor Xander had ever shown any interest in someone of a different race. It'd be nice if one day, in the rules of attraction and relationships, gender joins race/ethnicity among the optional qualities that nobody even thinks twice about, or requires references and credentials before they'll "buy it". Probably won't happen this year or next, unfortunately. And the more I read from Joss and Scott Allie, the more convinced I am that wherever this Buffy/Satsu thing is going, it's going to be a huge surprise to all of us, and none of us will see it coming. Well, that is, except for those handful of fans who are so much smarter than the rest of us, and have already sat down and figured out every possible way it could play out, and decided that they all suck, and that the whole thing is pointless. But I'm gonna keep reading, anyway, in hopes that they're the same people who will honestly try to tell you that "Buffy" S7 and "Angel" S4 were actually among the very best ones--'cause that'd prove that they're not right about everything...
