Hey everybody, i'm having a procedure on my heart on December 14th. I'm a littel nervous about this, and am wondering if anybody out there has had a similar procedure.
The procedure is called Cardiac Ablation. They insert a catheter into an artery in my leg, lead it up to my heart, and cauteerize extra tissue in my heart that causes my heart to beat abnormally. My condition's gotten worse, over the years and now it's time to get it fixed.
If anybody out there has had this done, please tell me I have nothing to worry about. My wife and my family have all taken the day off work to be there with me. But no matter how many people are there, I'm still nervous.
Anyways, i'll be out of work for at least a week, and may need some ideas for a Buffy Marathon...
Currently, I'm thinking "The Best of Rupert Giles." Which episodes should I choose if I do that one? Or do you have another theme I should try?
Anyways, gotta run. Take care!

Sorry to hear that your health hasn't been great. Did a little reading on the procedure, and it sounds minimally invasive, and it also sounds relatively safe, since there'll be a whole bunch of specialists in the room.
Wishing you the best! Surgery is stressful, but the procedure is relatively routine these days, so I'm sure you'll be fine. It also sounds rather short, given the complexity of it all (hey, it's the heart!).

Sorry to hear you have been poorly Alex and I am sending you lots of good luck wishes for your operation. I have never had anything like that done luckily but one of my friends has had several operations on his heart including a by-pass and he has pulled through them all ok. Keep us updated on how you get on and we will be thinking about you

Sorry to hear about your upcomming surgery. While I am glad it is taking place to prevent further damage to your heart. Just remember that the Doctors wouldn't be Doctors if they didn't know what they are doing.
As far as a Giles Marathon, don't forget his relationships with Jenny and Olivia. those are nice moments. And you can't leave out Band Candy. Or the one where he turns into a demon. So many great Giles moments.

Best wishes to you, I am sure that you will be feeling like new in no time.
As for a Giles marathon, this might be the only time I ever recommend "Where the Wild Things Are" because it has Giles singing (and he gets to wield a chainsaw).

My thoughts are with you Alex. I'm sorry you have to go through this.
As for a Giles marathon, I'd go with the above suggestion of Where The Wild Things Are, The Dark Age (of course), A New Man and maybe The Yoko Factor ('cause drunk Giles is freakin' awesome).

Also, perhaps "Helpless" since Giles features pretty majorly in that ep.

I got the creeps when I read the title of the thread. Hang in there! Don't watch sad episodes, they will only get you down.
So maybe skip Passions in the Giles re-run? Or do a "We can beat all" re-run, where you watch the eps when the scoobies triumf. Like Graduation day (skip the sad Bangel scene in the end), Primeval, Triangle, etc etc.

Good luck! I will be sending positive thoughts your way. Season 4 seems like it has a good chunk of Gilesness

I wish you the best! Don't worry they say the worst surgery is giving birth and I've done that three times and I'm the weakest person I know so if I can do that you can do this!! As for the marathon I recommend Once More with Feeling because you get to hear Giles lovely singing voice. Don't stress about the surgery and enjoy the time off work. ;D

Wishing you a smooth procedure and a speedy recovery. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with that particular surgery, but I'm sure it'll go well. As for the marathon...what about Band Candy?

Good luck, Alex! I like the Best of Rupert Giles idea, or how about staying in the realm of light and humorous? Band Candy is a definite win for either category. I would stay away from anything too stressful or emotional. Wishing you the best on a speedy recovery and keep that positive energy up.

Good luck! In my last psychology paper I covered the findings that patients are more likely to beat the odds if they believe in themselves and believe they will be fine. You get terminal patients who are given a few months to live and live up at an extra ten years this way! It's fascinating.
I think people have mentioned most of the episodes I was thinking of, season four definately has some good Giles in it (demon Giles, drunk Giles, singing Giles). OMWF is also a good choice, but then I would say so 'cos it's my favourite episode... Restless also has Giles singing.

My goodness. I'm sorry you have to go through this and I will be sending prayers your way. It must be nice to know that your family will be there for you. Hopefully knowing that people you love most are there waiting for you will calm your nerves. I'll be wishing you the best and a full speedy recovery. As for a Giles marathon you got to go for The Dark Age, Band Candy, Helpless, A New Man, OMWF, Tabula Rasa and Two To Go just to see his bad-ass return.
