Here are the submissions:
ENTRY 1 - Angel stands front-and-center. He hasn’t been on the cover since #3, and then we only saw him from the back. All around him, muscular and lanky demons are coming at him. Some from the sky, some from behind him, some even bursting forth from the ground. Angel’s face lacks the smirk from the final few moments of “Not Fade Away,” because this time he’s fighting for Fred’s life.
ENTRY 2 - Cordelia in a heavenly white glow in close up (covering most of the comic cover). In the background, in the distance, we see the demons (and the darkness) that has taken over LA
ENTRY 3 - With hell breaking loose all around him, Angel is in the forefront standing weapon to weapon with Gunn over the battered body of someone that looks like Fred (or a combination of Fred/Illyria). Our vantage point could see the Fred figure dressed as Fred would (short skirt, etc), but with perhaps blue toned hair... as if Illyria and Fred are actually battling for the same
body as well.
ENTRY 4 - Fred is seen in the middle of the battlefield. She has a look of shock at seeing Wesley again, which is turning to fear as she realizes that she is now defenseless in the fight. Fred is surrounded by some of the lords’ champions, but they are not all focusing on her as they have other opponents to worry about. Parts of Angel and his comrades, including the dragon, may be seen in the fray as they fight the lords’ champions. This scene is reminiscent of the end of issue five, just like our exclusive cover of issue one was reminiscent of the end of season five; which is fitting due to the break in the storytelling.
ENTRY 5 - Angel is crouching or kneeling, facing forward with hand(s) outstretched grasping at the sleeve of an offscreen cast member who's life literally hangs in the balance. We only see the hand or fingertips or sleeve of this mystery person as Angel struggles to keep them from falling.
ENTRY 6 - A man in monk-clothing is facing us, half his face in shadows, covered by a cowl. In his left hand he holds the Shanshu-prophecy, or possibly a sword. On his other arm, he cradles a sleeping baby. From the shape of the mouth and the chin we can determine that it’s Spike, a vampire with a soul, wanting to do good in the world. But there is some blood on his chin, meant to make the viewer wonder;
Is the baby just sleeping?
ENTRY 7 - I'd love to see the cover of Angel issue 9 having Illyria gazing in a mix of sorrow, anger and confusion at blue blazing images above the palms of her hands. One hand has an image of Fred and Wesley embracing, happy and content in their love. The other hand has an image of Fred happy surrounded by her parents, Angel and the rest of her friends. The newly discovered emotions of guilt and remorse are becoming too much for Illyria to take.
ENTRY 8 - Angel is now human! How better to represent that then with: Renaissance Angel, ala Leonardo Da Vinci's man painting. Have Angelic Fred and Cordy on the left and right side.
ENTRY 9 - I see Illyria midway through her change into Fred. Though, it doesn't look as easy a transition as it did in Issue 5. It's more like Fred fighting to break free from Illyria, the pain of the struggle very evident on their face.
ENTRY 10 - Groosalug...big warm smile, the one we know and love. His hair long (with some braids, feathers/shells woven in) and his arms bare and muscles flexed. Either posed with his arms crossed across his chest with a weapon in one hand or his arms around the shoulders of two other characters – in his “big hug” – showing his true joy at being here, with these people, at this time.
Groo needs his own cover – he personifies valor, self-sacrifice, honor and a kind of innocence... plus wicked good looking too!
ENTRY 11 - I see Angel (center stage) with Spike on his right and Connor on his left standing side by side, weapons in hand and poised for battle. Together they form a semi-circle around a crumpled Fred...drawn in a near fetal position (down on her knees, torso bent toward the ground, her arms crossed over her chest) her head turned toward the heroes, her facial expression disoriented and frightened...protected behind her "boys". Just in front of the heroes (on the very bottom edge and lower 2/3rds. of each side of the comic book cover) a demon horde approaches...illustrated by various demon hands, weapons and fire.
ENTRY 12 - The cover features Illyria/Fred, as Illyria is turning into Fred slowly from the top down as if the Illyria is melting away to reveal a frightened Fred.
ENTRY 13 - The sun/moon shines brightly with some red clouds in the sky. Around where Angel and company stood their ground against what Wolfram & Hart behind the Hyperion hotel is where Angel, Spike, Connor, and Illyria/Fred return to fight yet another hard battle. With sword in tow, Angel looks at the oncoming demons heading towards them.
ENTRY 14 - Illyria is standing front of a mirror (possibly in the mansion) with her back to it, talking to Spike (possibly some of the girls). In the mirror, her reflection is Fred's back.
ENTRY 15 -
Someones life is in the hands of the fates, BUT WHO?
My idea is of a mysterious higher being infront of a karma wheel of sorts with many possible outcomes.
Each section on the wheel has one of the fang gangs death scene on it and the higher power has skips spinner which is spinning around the wheel like at a casino and who ever it falls on will perish.
ENTRY 16 - We see Angel dreaming (could be a daydream or he can be asleep while he dreams) of an image of himself and BUFFY facing each other, holding hands as if it was a marriage ceremony. Behind them the image remains of a burning Los Angeles with images of demons spread about.
That's all of them! Please vote right now as the poll will close in 24 hours! This contest was a rush because of deadlines.
