So what do you guys think was the worst season and why?
I really didn't like season 5 because it was kinda un-eventful and had mostly filler episodes (Smile Time, Life of the Party)

Personally my least favorite is season 4. I'm just not a big fan of Evil Cordy. I liked a lot of the other ideas in the season (bringing Faith back, Angelus, The Beast, etc.), but Evil Cordy kinda killed it for me. She shouldn't have been evil, there should have been a different kind of twist with her.

I agree with Jsebold, Evil Cordy just spoiled the season.

I also would have to agree that Evil Cordy ruined the season. I remember seeing an alternate storyline that Angels soul when wandering around finds Cordelia's soul and when he is reensouled, it is up to him and the rest of the gang to put her soul back in her body. Then the rest of the season was to feature Jasmine as the Villian with Cordy with the Angel gang. I wish that is what would've happened and it would have made Cordelia appear in the entire Fifth Season instead of just one episode.

Either seasons 3 or 4. I hated Connor! His storyline was so freaking boring! Yeah, Season 5 was a 'breath fo fresh air' with Connor having less of an input.
Picked season 3 because I couldn't decide between the two, and it had no votes yet.

Season three for me. I can't quite put my finger on it, but for some reason I didn't enjoy it that much when I watched it.
I personally love season four and I think it deserves a lot more credit than people give it.

I wish that is what would've happened and it would have made Cordelia appear in the entire Fifth Season instead of just one episode. Where did you read that? That sounds like a MUCH better storyline. I had read the Joss said before Charisma turned out pregnant that they had planned to make Cordy evil, but not pregnant. Once she said she was pregnant, then they made it so she was incubating baby Jasmine. I think I remember them also saying it was going to be Jasmine running Cordy's body, it's just that Jasmine wasn't supposed to be born and played by a different actress at the end. I just dislike season 4 so much. In season 3, they pulled the Cordy/Angel relationship out of their, um, ears and pushed it on us, then just threw it away when season 4 started. I understand that Joss loves to do the unexpected thing. Making Angel's love interest and confidante, the woman who was the heart of the show, evil is just the kind of left field Joss loves to spring on his viewers. It's just like the rumor that Gunn was going to be an evil vampire and the big bad of season 6, if the Angel show had gotten a 6th season. That's such a typical kind of thing Joss loves to do with our feelings. Also, like how he put Willow and Tara back together after a long estrangement, only to have Tara murdered before Willow's eyes in the very next episode. Anyway, I can't stand season 4. I never watch those episodes and I don't have the DVD set.

I just watched season 4 again and actually really enjoyed it. When i first watched it i didn't know what was coming so i was shocked and dissapointed about the turn of events, such as the horrible connor and cordy thing. But when i watched it again the was no surprises and it gave me a whole new appreciation of the series. i would recommend watchng it in chronological viewing order with Buffy season 7 (get the order off the internet from original air dates as it does not go in buffy/angel/buffy/angel order - Lies my parents told me and orpheus are a really great double) as the stories complement each other beautifully.
It is hard to pick a worst season of angel, I don't think there are as many truely excellent episodes as there was in buffy but it was consistently very good. Someone earlier said that season 5 was mostly filler episodes, but this couldn't be further from the truth, watch it again - every episode says something about Angel's loss of purpose, Smile Time being particularly important as it literally shows Angel that he is a puppet - a puppet to his 'destiny', a puppet to the powers that be and a puppet to W&H. there's nothing fluffy or filler about that.

The whole story line of season 4 was pathetic. the pregnant cordy, the whole is she her or not? and jasmine had to be the lamest villian ever....it was just blah. and very hard to actually get through....but season 5 made it worth it

There are some good episodes in season 4, but the overall storyline is annoying. I hate the Connor and Cordelia stuff. I really like when Angelus is released and Faith and Willow show up. I like all the seasons of Angel, this is just my least favorite.

It just felt very forced having the evil Cordy plot and I hated what they did with Connor too. Season 5 bored me a little and never really felt the same without Cordelia. Girl Power: I have to disagree about Cordelia/Angel which I saw signs of in late season 2. There were other relationships however that seemed to come out of no where that I never bought. To me Cordelia made the most sense, Angel trusted her completely, they laughed together and she was the only one on that shown as his equal.

Season Four is really my favorite Season of Angel to tell you the truth. I mean sure the Cordy/Connor crap was sickening but it was needed. That whole season had lots and lots and LOTS of twists and surprises and it and Season three are the only Seasons to have a specific Big Bad unlike the seasons 1,2,and 5 though you could say the specific Big Bad in Season 2 was Wolfram & Hart. In Season 5 there were a lot of factors: W&H, Lindsay, The Circle....
And I agree with tranquillity, there was a point of "Smile Time", Angel being the unkowing puppet of Wolfram & Hart...ie: Angel's new motto for After the Fall: "They think they've changed me..."

At certain points in season 4, I found myself thinking "if I didn't respect Joss's storytelling skills so much, I would turn off the TV and never come back". It's a good thing I held out, though, since season 5 was by far my favorite, and it's the only DVD set I own.

I liked them all but I remember getting mad at season 2. I loved that Dru and Darla were there but the whole half good half evil thing was stupid. When he abbandoned his friends I was so pissed.

I think it's mostly to do with Darla coming back not as a soulless vampire, but as a human. That screwed Angel up, not to metion when Wolfram and Hart started messing with him. I love all the seasons of Angel, although my least favourite is season 3. It just doesn't have that something that all the others have, although it's still pretty good. I really like season 4 by the way.

Season 4! Like everyone else it has to do with evil Cordy. It was just really disappointing the way they set her up to have untold powers in season 3 and then destroy all her character development and potential in season 4 and then kill her.
I love season 5 though, it is my favorite season. The only thing that is missing is Cordelia! "You're Welcome" really shows how strong the season could have been with Cordy...although her absence, her presence, then death are really what give Angel his direction through the season...it would have been a different show with Cordelia in it.

I love that so many people said Season Four. There is an episode of Undead America ( undeadamerica.blogspot.com ) with Aly and some friends discussing Season Four, and is it true that 1 of the reasons Charisma was fired was because of using of illegal cigarette-type things?
