Dawn's what, 18 now? And Xander's 24? So no icky-ness when it comes to age(I'm 19 btw).
I get an uncomfortable feeling thinking about the two of them together. Maybe because when I look at pics of michelle T today I still think she looks 15.
I think they should become really good friends, and then, maybe they could have an akward kiss. If there should be more, we'll see.
I'm against it a bit tough, because of the incest-vibe, although I was the one who started the incest-thread. Together with the images of Harriet the spy and the incest-vibe, I say no.
But they should definitly become better friends.

You guys you think it's too big of in age range but think of it this way. If Angel wasn't a vampire and he was just human he started dating Buffy and he would be about 20-25. When Buffy was only 16. That puts at least 5 years between them, which is the length between Xander and Dawn. They may have started at big brother/little sister relationship. But now look at them! I don't see Xander playing boardgames or babysitting Dawn anymore. He's having personal conversations with her and saying "how awesome she looks". One more thing. I have known plenty of relationships that start as a big brother/little sister and grows into love. Ex: Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley. (I can't believe I just refrenced Harry Potter )

This is just my personal opinion but i would be very very grossed out if anything were to happen between them, just because i see xander as a fatherly big brother figure to dawn like in "him" when dawn is crying Buffy and xander were like mom and dad trying to work out what was wrong. I just don't think them dating or getting involved would lead to anything good and might even cause trouble between the gang.

I've been rewatching seasons 1 and 2 of Buffy, with the intention of rewatching the entire series, and I've never noticed before just HOW MUCH innuendo there is between Buffy and Xander here. I've watched all of season 1 and I'm 5 episodes into s2, and some of the conversations they've had, the things they've said, I'm finding it not much of a stretch that THEY could get together. But it seems that Joss is truly developing the Dander relationship, so I won't be surprised in the next couple of arcs, certainly by the end of the season, if the two are together.

Mmm. Interesting question. I don't think it would be a good idea. Mainly because we've seen Dawn as the little sister, even though the age gap and her actual age isn't a big deal. Thing is they've grown up like family more than anything else. I wouldn't be really grossed out though if it did happen.

Xander and Dawn would be great together. We know for a fact Xander finds Dawn attractive (him season 7). Dawn like him is one of the few non magical characters. They both have a feelings of inadequacy as far as the scoobies goes. They seem to relate to each other. I don’t get the incest feeling at all. Dawn has always had a crush on Xander (season 5 the real me). Buffy always treated Dawn, like a kid. Now no matter what Buffy thinks Dawn is a women. They are good friends who are attracted to each other. I think Xander just has never thought of Dawn that way. Now she is older his feelings for her might change. Five years is nothing. My parents are 9 years apart in age. Buffy and Xander would be weird as Xander and Buffy are best friends, and at this point that is all they see each other as. We already saw Xander in love with Buffy. To have them go back to a a possible relationship would seem like rehash. Also Spike was right about Buffy needing a “little monster in her man” dose anyone really think Xander has any “monster” in him Dawn has aged and although she always had a crush on him there never seemed to be a possibility of a relationship until now

I would honestly stop reading, and would have serious doubt in Joss if he was the one writing the charatcers into this. They are like brother and sister. Fair enough Xander and Willow or Xander and Buffy but not Xander and Dawn.

There's nothing really wrong with it, in age etc. Xander's only 5 years older. Their relationship has been close since Dawn was a child though, so the idea of this developing into romance is pretty wrong.

I really do think that, on some level, it's an anti-Xander thing. If you actually look at the characters' personalities, he is an all-but perfect match for either of the Summers women -- the elder more than the younger, but both all the same.
With Buffy, it's always the completely made-up idea that he's like her brother -- which we know is objectively false because the writers have told us so on many occasions, right up to and including a plan for them to have a relationship being put into action and then stopped in Season 7.
With Dawn, it seems to be the same, but more about her, as though people honesty can't process that she was already pretty mature in Season 7 and it's getting close to two years after "Chosen" in Season 8. How much more heavy-handedly can Joss tell us that Dawn is a Big Girl than by turning her into a giant (!) and telling us tales of her being naughty at college?

Do you have a little sister? In Dawn's case it's nothing to do with anti-Xander. For Buffy and Xander, you have a point.

I really do think that, on some level, it's an anti-Xander thing. In fact, believe it or not, that's exactly the case. There's actually a vast, subversive anti-Xander campaign underway, of which I am a member. I'd divulge some of the specific details of it, but if the rest of the group discovered I'd talked, they'd kick me out, and our agenda of making sure he never ends up romantically involved with the Summers sisters is just too important, and I can't risk not being a part of it. This isn't good, tho, to find out that you're onto us. I'll have to mention that at the next meeting, and we'll adjust our plans accordingly. :smart:

Mock and call it a conspiracy if you like, but where are the really straightforward rational arguments against? The sibling argument has always been a fraud in the Buffy/Xander case, as proven repeatedly by quotes from writers and the portrayal by the actors. It can be put forward about Xander/Dawn, but in Season 8, they clearly haven't been written with a distinctly familial overtone. So if it's not haterade, where's the argument beyond "just because"?

So if it's not haterade, where's the argument beyond "just because"? Well, some people just don't fall in love even if they're both nice and like each other. not because of anti-xander or sibling-feelings, but because it's just not there.

If Xander/Dawn get together, I'm done reading this. That's too far out there for me. I've taken fairies, flying Willow, Sleeping Beauty kisses, and gargoyle demons with a grain of salt, but Xander and Dawn is WAY crossing the line, and very unBuffy.

IDK, King, I'm a HUGE BXer and even bigger Xander fan and Dawn is one of my favorite characters, but I still feel like Dawn and Xander feel to much like family for a hook up, imo. ITA with you on your point about the B/X sibling argument can sometimes be from anti-Xander sentiments. There's been proof from both the writers and the actors saying B/X was never written or played with a sibling vibe. B/X was always on the table. But with Dawn, she was written as the little sister. And in S7, it was written that Buffy and Xander had a parental vibe with her. Nick and Sarah played it that way as well. In Him, he even treats her like a kid by saying she's a teen in a snit to which Dawn takes offense to. And I think in the last issue where Xander points out her whiney-ness it could also be taken that he may feel the same way, she's being whiney like her teenage self. She then runs off in a huff like a hurt kid.
I just think that because its always been written with the feel as Dawn as the little sister that D/X may be harder to swallow for some in the comics.
