Okay. So it looks like Dr. Steel's minions are actually *angry* about Dr. Horrible. I'd actually moderately enjoyed Dr. Steel's work. People are acting like somehow Joss making a musical about a mad scientist is plagerism. I personally think it's retarded. Mad Scientists are part of pop culture, there's nothing left to steal. For God's sake, I'm a mad scientist myself. Am I violating some kind of unspoken sole propriatorship belonging to Dr. Steel? To see the stupid happening, check here: www.imdb.com/title/tt1227926/board/nest/111939174It seems to have started civil-ly enough, but some of these "Soldiers" of Steel's are a bit persistant. But then Steel himself made a statement... www.myspace.com/drsteelCheck his blog. He actually thanks them. He seems to actually believe this tripe. It's as though he thinks he's cornered the market on goggles...

I read some of this stuff yesterday on Dr. Horrible's IMDb board, the whole place is basically "THIS IS A DR. STEEL RIPOFF!". There have been singing mad scientists WAY before Dr. Steel anyways. Young Frankenstein anyone? I've never even heard of Dr. Steel until yesterday anyways, and besides, there is WAY more to Dr. Horrible than just a singing mad scientist.

Yeah that's completely ridiculous. This Dr. Steel guy is shamelessly using Joss's success with Dr. Horrible to gain pubicity. And what's worse is that he not going after Joss himself, instead he is getting his fans to do the attacking.
If Dr. Steel actually believed that Joss had stole his ideas he would have gone after himself. But he didn't, because he doesn't have a case. Now if he wanted to use Dr. Horrible's success to help get him noticed thats fine. But attacking Joss, is low and is borderline criminal.
In law, defamation (also called vilification, slander, and libel) is the communication of a statement that makes a false claim, expressively stated or implied to be factual, that may give an individual, business, product, group, government or nation a negative image.
In my book Dr. Steel and all his little soldiers are guilty of libel, which is defamation by written word, and slander, by spoken word. They have been spaming the internet with accusations that they can not back up.

This isn't good..... From the comments of the blog: "I just received word of the Comic-con panel,My division will be there Friday and we will be attending the panel so any and all soldiers attending Friday are encouraged to join us in bringing down this forgery."There is even a gorram website about bringing Dr. Horrible down at Comic Con! www.toysoldiersunite.com/index.php?pid=missions&mid=35His "army" is also going to protest outside and inside the panel, telling them to "get angry". www.toysoldiersunite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4006

COUNTER PROTEST. Anybody going to this con, get a great big sign that says Dr Horrible is amazing and stand in front of a protester.

I wrote Steel the following letter: Goodbye Dr. Steel. MAD SCIENCE is for everyone. If you're accusing Joss Whedon of plagerism, I have no use for your childish toys. I have long suported you for your steampunk ties, but if you think you own MAD SCIENCE, you're delusional beyond words. Let us not forget the men who did science before us, men and woman of great stature such as Dr. Frankenstien (who Gene Wilder sang and danced for), Dr. Hoffman, Dr. Orloff, Dr. Zorka, Dr. Brinken, and Dr. Frankenfurter. In reccent days, other notable MADMEN have done SCIENCE. Dr. Membrane and Dexter are both excellent examples. So fair well, my former Myspace friend, and hello Horrible.

Wow. Completely silly. It sort of seems like they just need something to be mad about. I mean, if we were in the position that let's say Buffy was an underground, little-known show and all of sudden a big network puts a strikingly similar, obviously better ( ) version on, that would make us mad, it may seem like they copied Joss or whatever. But I think with a villain as generic as a Mad Scientist, the guy or his fans shouldn't really complain. If he were some super original hero that the guy obviously came up with himself, then they may have reason to be upset. But, the way I see it, this is a great opportunity for Dr. Steel. If people are looking for a continuation of this theme, then right there's Dr. Steel. It's almost promotional for him. (shrugs) And plus, isn't more than one singing mad scientist just proof enough that we will eventually be overtaken by one?

Honestly this is crazy. Mad scientist is a generic fictional character. People, I repeat, get over yourself.
