Wow, so it's still the highest selling TPB. Awesome!

Sales estimates for January are in.The good news: Buffy has moved up the charts, to #25 for issue 31. The less good news is that overall sales dipped again, to 47,013. Still, it was a very poor month overall for comics sales and we can consider this a break-even, at least.

Grrr, this is my first time seing the sales chart for season eight, I thought they were doing much beter than that. It seems as though many people wait for the TPB instead of getting the issues each month, personally I get both.

Grrr, this is my first time seing the sales chart for season eight, I thought they were doing much beter than that. It seems as though many people wait for the TPB instead of getting the issues each month, personally I get both. That's a general trend in almost every other sector of comics - more people are waiting on TPBs than buying individual issues. There are some obvious exceptions (Siege is big, seems to have drawn a lot of Marvel readers back, and Geoff Johns on Green Lantern has pulled big numbers from the start) but for the most part individual issue purchases are down while TPB sales are up. And for a series like Buffy, where large story elements tend to occur as part of the package of the story arc anyway, buying in TPB makes the story a tad more coherent in the long run.

Buffy #32 came in at number 28 in February. That's down three places from the previous month, but February was a very competitive month with DC in the home stretch of its "Blackest Night" mega-event. We don't have raw sales numbers yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if they've ticked up for the first time in a while.

Sales of #32: 47,975An increase of almost 1,000 from the previous month, and the first time in a long while the series has seen an actual increase in sales.

I expect it's people hitching a ride on the Buffy-train in time for the Twilight reveal
