Wow wouldn't that be like getting rid of Jane Espenson or Martix Noxon from Buffy. As far as I can remember Joeph Loeb ahs always had a pretty big hand in helping with Heroes.

Too Bad. I like Loeb's work overall. I hope that the show doesn't get worse...

Wow, that's a very dramatic change for Heroes. Not sure if it's the right choice, although I can't argue with NBC's argument that each episode was going over budget.

I'm sure that Loeb will bounce back on his feet soon. He's a very talented guy. I'm not sure if this was a smart move on NBC's part, but I guess only time will be the judge of that. Heroes definitely needs some changes, if it ever wants to become the juggernaut it was in Season 1, so maybe this will be seen as a good decision down the line.

I've given this abit more thought and... Heroes problem was that it never EVER was going to beat the first series and then season 2 came a long and well...we all know how that went. Now season 3 is shaky and it does seem to be going somewhere but there is something wrong. I'm not even sure what it is it just seems weird. My theory is that they have over complicated everything with the whole time traveling and the flashes into the future. But I am still a faithful watcher and always wil be. It will get a fourth season no matter how bad the show gets, it will just get it's budget cut and I think that this is what the show needs. This way they can go back to the charatcers and focus less on special effects and who has what power/ability. For this season to work they need to have a good story line which they have and they need to kill off a main character. Whether it's Claire, Hiro, Nathan, Mohinder or finally Sylar somebody needs to die. I don't think Peter should die this early in the show but maybe later on although I think hischaracter still has a lot to give. Killing off a main character will give us a great story and put more impact into the show. It will also re-enforce the fact that these are meant to be normal people living their normal lives and they are struggling with these abilties. That is what I liked most about season 1 and that is what the show needs back. Get rid of missions to save the world and bring back believable, relatable charatcers. That's all I have to say That and (spolier warning for those who haven't seen the latest episodes of season 3) I can't believe they killed off Adam Monroe that easily, he was an excellant character and deserved a better story this year or at least a better death than being drained by Peter and Nathan's dad. He should have gone out in full fight mode against Hiro this would make Hiro a much more darker charatcer and make him grow up a bit. Not that I don't like the whole Hiro and Ando double act I just think it can be a bit much sometimes.

Heroes has become extremely formulaic. In Season 1 we had Peter time travelling to the future and landing in the middle of Times Square after New York is obliterated by a nuke.
In Season 2 we had Peter time travelling to the future and landing in the middle of Times Square only to discover that New York has been abandoned because of some horrible plague.
In Season 3 we see Hiro time travel to the future and landing in the middle of Tokyo right before it is obliterated be some unknown force.
They changed the character but it is the same premise and its getting old. I don't find any of the characters interesting(except Elle because I love KBell) and there is no cohesive storyline. It is all over the place.
Jeph Loeb should count himself lucky that he got off the sinking ship that is Heroes while he still could.

I'm not a Heroes watcher, but I was disappointed to hear this. It's so unfortunate when networks think the best way to get what they want is to fire the same people who made a project a success in the first place! I know Jeph Loeb will have a hundred other offers now, but it's still a low thing to do. And although I don't watch the show, I have heard the dire reviews for this current season, so I concur with Melissa that perhaps Jeph should be greatful to have gotten off a sinking ship.

Honestly, i dig a lot of stuff the Loeb has done, and hate a lot of other stuff (ultimates volume 3, for example)...but im just glad that it looks like they are TRYING to do something to improve things, whether or not it actually ends up that way.

I stopped watching Season 3 because it got so convoluted. I wonder how much of a difference firing Jeph Loeb will make and how long it will take for them to get back on track.

Well as of now on the latest episodes Loeb is still credited on the show. I wonder how long it will take for his firing to take effect. Also just a sidenote if this was Buffy that had gone off the rails as bad as Heroes has then Joss Whedon would jump right into the writers chair until it was all fixed. Where the hell is Tim Kring. He created the show then went on a 4 year holiday to the moon, get back, get involved more and fix your own show.
