Glad there hasn't been a negative review yet. Seems like all four are basically saying the same thing: Pretty good episode and has lots of potential. It's a shame that the Toronto Star is also worried about Eliza's ability.

This looks quite promising to me. Usually reviews turn up negative I would say. So it's nice that (once again) Joss gets glowing reviews of his work. I await this show with baited breath! It's gonna be so cool to have a place to chat about this too.
We've had a Dollhouse board for a while, so it's nice that soon it'll be used more often!

Meh. I only read the first review, because I didn't want any spoilers, and I have to say... the things that were said leave me feeling a bit disappointed, and less excited for the show than I was previously.

Ick. Not reading it because I'm sick of spoilers, but I've heard it's not a good one.

I think Joss is in the very dangerous position right now of having been a critical darling for so long that the sharks want to take him down. Hopefully,he and Dollhouse will get past this and, hopefully, most viewers will be smart enough not to take the critics seriously (they seldom do take them seriously....).
Best wishes,
Scott

Best wishes, Scott That's very true. I've seen so many times were critics slammed on movies/shows/music/etc. and the viewers/listeners/fans absolutely loved whatever it was that the critics hated, so...

Okay. I don't really have my hopes shooting through the roofs after reading these reviews...but lets all remember the first season of Buffy (and the first half of Season 2) and the first season of Angel.
I always thought the beginning of Joss' shows weren't as strong as they became. He always took his time.

Firefly was class from the off. I'm not sure about this show but I'll probably check it out. It sounded like a good premise but I worry that some serious studio interference has tarnished it.

So I was able to see the pilot last night, and overall it was quite enjoyable. As many of you have said, it will take time before the show develops. I just hope that we get the necessary time. One thing that the Futon Critic mentioned that rang true to me: There was a definite lack of the humor that is usually included in Joss' shows. This one had a fairly serious tone throughout. Overall, I think the acting was strong, Eliza is great, and great to see Amy and her together (I had a Fred/Faith moment real quick). I have a lot of hope for Dollhouse and will be watching faithfully!
