All the Way was not THAT bad. GOOD: Giles cutting loose and dusting a few vampires VAMPIRE: What do you know about it old man GILES: Quite a bit actually! Spike pulling a cross bow from his jacket and shooting the vampire through the chest SPIKE: No I'm a rebel...you're an idiot! Buffy cutting a vampire's head off using a car door BAD: Dawn breathing Dawn moaning Dawn lying Dawn being...well Dawn Willow and Tara bit*hing at eachother and I THINK Dawn may have moaned for a while as well

"All the Way" actually has a lot of great individual moments (Willow and Tara's argument is actually a good thing in my eyes, because Tara finally grows a pair), it just has the misfortune of having an incredibly boring main storyline and "villain". Joss has said that he never wanted to resort to "Dawn Goes on a Date" storylines, and this episode makes it clear why. I'm so glad the whole Kenny/Nick story took place off panel because I don't think I could stomach some teenybopper love triangle at this stage in the series. (For the record, I love Dawn as a character, I just couldn't give a toss about her love life.)

All the Way is on par with every other (non-muscial) episode of season 6 imo. I kinda like the cliche plot because it's quite informative about Buffy-verse vampires.

Yeah, I was just going to say that. I really do think that All The Way fit in with the vibe and feel that the season had going for it. It really didn't develop Dawns character though, it just showed us that after all she has been through, she still an idiot.
I don't really think that her character became tolerable until S7. She actually seemed to have learned from her past and grow into a good, mature character.

I don't think Dawn was an idiot in the episode at all. If Buffy would have been a better sister/de facto mother, Dawn wouldn't be so repressed that she felt the need to act out. Buffy's realization in "Grave" that she wants to stop holding Dawn back and show her the world really ties back into this episode, which was really the biggest evidence of how sheltered Dawn had become, due to Buffy's over protectiveness.

TFAW.com has updated the profile page for #22. It now features the cover with borders for the Jo Chen cover: Guess they're sticking with the "Executive Producer" tag instead of the previous "Joss Whedon's Season 8". EDIT: Found the bordered variant cover over at the Dark Horse site:

EDIT: Found the bordered variant cover over at the Dark Horse site: The bordered versions look quite good and I'm very glad they're sticking with 'Executive Producer Joss Whedon'. It sounds much nicer than Joss Whedon's Season Eight, which I found discordant. I'm another crazy who loved "All The Way". I actually don't think there's an episode Steven S. DeKnight wrote/directed for Buffy/Angel that I didn't love. The writing for "All The Way" was so witty and I always had a soft spot for Halloween/Birthday episodes. I'm converting a friend into a BtVS/AtS fan, and she's currently watching season six and I found myself anticipating her reaction, as a season it was always the most emotionally compelling and poignant. The darkness always created more of an impact for me than the comedy of the earlier seasons.

I really like what they did with the logo on Jo Chen's cover, the largeness of it looks really cool. I wonder whatever happened to Janice...? She died watching an evil videotape.

I find it a bit amusing that we have the two lesbian characters together in this issue entitled Swell, which makes me think of Tara singing:
The moon to the tide I can feel you inside I'm under your spell [lies down on the bed] Surging like the sea [Willow leans over her, smiles] Wanting you so helplessly I break with every swell [Willow moves downward, disappears out of shot] Lost in ecstasy Spread beneath my willow tree You make me complete!

Most blatant moment of softcore lesbian porn in the show ever! Even more so than the "pierced tongue" bit in S7.

Amazing preview! I am very excited for this issue now, way more than I was over the covers (though the tribble thing is hella cute). Um, am I the only one that thinks they might be pushing Kennedy and Satsu together? Don't get me wrong, I hate the idea, but in the preview I see some subtext there (haha, given my recent posting regarding seeing subtext when there isn't anything). Anyway, it was the line where Kennedy said that Satsu should put away the cinnamon lip gloss and love someone who will return it. I kept expecting Satsu to turn to Kennedy and ask 'who would fit that description?' Perhaps it's because I don't want Willow with Kennedy anymore, but it seemed they were setting something up like that. Again, I feel I need to explicitly say that I don't want that to happen. I agree completely. I was beginning to think that I was the only one who saw something. I see a lot of subtext there. However, Joss never does what's expected and since a lot of people are under the impression that Satsu and Kennedy might become Katsu, I doubt he'll go that way. I'm not that sure why people assume that just because it's an arc centered around two lesbians that they will get together. I see no problem in their relationship if Satsu was 100 percent over Buffy or if Kennedy wasn't already in a relationship with Willow. But who knows... Personally, I like Satsu a lot and am just grateful that her character is allowed to continue progressing in the comics without being killed off like a lot of the other new characters of S8. My opinion of Kennedy hasn't really changed since S7. She's... okay.

Im really looking foward to this issue. Im a massive Kennedy fan (where like Pandas!) and I'm really pleased that she's back, hopefully, full time. I do hope they explain why the public accept Vampires though, I just dont get it.

I don't get this whole softcore lesbian thing! Explain!
I, myself, think that Satsu and Kennedy should get together. I like the idea.

Rewatch the "Under Your Spell" segment. It's quite clear that Willow goes due south on Tara... and I don't think any other interpretation can account for the look on Tara's face, just as the song cuts out. The pierced tongue thing... that's Kennedy doing the same to Willow in "Touched".
