Witchblade

Is anyone here a Witchblade fan?
I've been reading it for years and it's pretty amazing.

It's about a police detective, Sara Pezzini, who bears an ancient weapon called the Witchblade, a balance between the Darkness and Light.
It's passed along each generation to a different female (similar to Buffy) and in the past has been worn by warriors like Cleopatra, Joan of Arc and others (shown in Tales of the Witchblade)

It's almost it's 125th issue anniversary so now would be a good time for you guys to jump on!

It's also had a TV series with Yancy Butler (which wasn't that great...), a Japanese anime and a movie which is planned for the near future!

I was always interested in the Witchblade series, especially after seeing half naked chicks wearing a gauntley/Escalibur type thing on their arms in the covers. Very sexy. Seriously, I remember my legs locking whenever I glanced at the covers. Wasn’t there something with Lara Croft? I don’t know, whatever. Is it me or is that woman in that poster looking like Rachel McAdams? I’m a little worried if the film is going to be live action or whatever. I need to start a few new series and Witchblade has definitely got my attention. Do they have volumes or trade paper backs so I don’t have to buy each issue separately? Thanks Tommi!

You can get issues 1-50 in the HUGE Witchblade Compendium, with 51-100 coming soon! =]



You can get seperate TPBs aswell;

Witchblade Origins which will have 3 parts (I think the first 2 are out now) collects the first 25 comics of the series and then you can collect issue 86 onwards in the new Volumes (there are 5 so far, with 6 coming soon).

There have been loads of crossovers with Tomb Raider, The Darkness, Wolverine, Vampirella etc and some of those are really good!

The latest issues are brilliant, Sara the main character has a baby, which I think is a first in comic history, and has to give up half the Witchblade to a new bearer, Dani.

Gah! Have you seen what that costs? What are you trying to do Tommi? Burn a hole through my wallet? Jeez Louise. There better be some rated X pictures in there! Seriously, I want to get my money's worth. lol.

Cool, I saw a poster of this for $10 and wanted to get into this..

I used to read Witchblade about 5 years ago from the late 40s into the 70s, but I thought it was declining at that point. I really love some of the cross-overs, particularly with The Magdalena and Lara Croft.
Image Comics in general were always my fav. I absolutely adore J Michael Straczynski's Rising Stars and Midnight Run. Also Blood Legacy: Story of Ryan, although short, was one of the best vampire comics I ever set eyes upon!

Yeah, sales started to drop a couple of years ago but they have really pulled it back!
The Tomb Raider\Witchblade crossovers I absolutely love as I've been a TR fan since the first game!

Good to know there are other Image\Top Cow fans here!
