I think so far they've been good episodes. And I'm hopeful that it will turn into a good series. I think they need these 1 shots to help explain everything else.
Well like I said, I'm hopeful.

this is the kind of show where the trailers make the episodes look kinda bad, but the episodes themselves are really good.

Episode one was okay. I got very attached to the Ms.Penn character/Davina. Episode two caught my attention - it was very faced paced and unexpected (by me).
I agree there is less Joss-humour, and the characters are yet to be fully captivating and addictive!
But I am about to watch ep. 3 so I'm looking forward to getting more into the show.

I admit that when I first watched the show I wasn't sure how I felt about it and I was skeptical. And if I'm being completely honest with myself, I'm not sure I would have tuned into the show at all had it not been Joss at the helm; whom let's face it, is like only my favorite person in the universe ever! I probably would have still have watched it though even without Joss' involvement for the sake of Ms. Dushku. All this being said, however, I find that the show has really grew on me (like a Chia Pet!) and I am hooked! I really have my fingers crossed that this show gets renewed for a second season because I really want to see more and I think it deserves a chance to blossom! I really do think this show has so much potential and so many places it can go if only given a chance! And I disagree, I think the show has all the humor and wittysisms of a Joss made show!
It's funny because I have started watching so many shows due to the involvement of Whedonverse alum; Bones, Terminator, Chuck, Castle etc., and they really do turn out to be good shows in their own right!
I don't think anything else will ever quite hold a candle to Buffy, but I for one am glad to have Joss back and writing for TV again. Because let's face it, even the worst Joss Whedon show (like that would ever really happen) is better than the majority of reality crap we see on TV today. I think Dollhouse is something fresh and new; an interesting premise with a slew of potential. I for one am digging this show!
